I'm thinking about buying one of these and would love some input from people who have played either.
They both look like a lot of fun. I'm leaning more towards Darkfall because of the way the game is open, but Champions looks like a blast so I'm lost. |

seeing as how the majoriy voted Champions, imma say Darkfall.
Basically because of these reasons: -Never felt so immersed in a game before. when your walking around in the wilderness, especially alone, your scared shitless. Your constently scanning your surroundings for someone who might be spying on you. And vice versa, stalking someone that doesn't know your there is the coolest feeling ever. -Capability to join a clan with their own city, protecting it from enemies using tactics and strategy instead of zerging. (which is basically impossible for the attacking party) -100% skill based, so the more you use a skill, the better you are with it. No labled 'level' for a player. -The feeling of accomplishment when you take down your first foe in 1v1 combat, and looting him for everything he has, and hightailing it out of there because you know he is coming back for revenge. amazing game, if player vs player is your thing. |

Never played Darkfall, but I have played Champions. That game sucks big time right now. Its going to keep sucking unless the devs revamp everything but its too late. Lack of content doesnt help either.
A lot of people excuse new mmos for not having a lot of content when they first come out. But the new games aren't competing with games from 1994, they are competing with games that are out right now. And champions just doesn't cut it. Wait for a trial before you waste your money. |

I took a dive and bought both. Got Champions for 14$ with a month included (pm me if anyone is interested in getting it. No need to pay 40 bucks) and Darkfall for the low low price of 50$(waaaaaaay too much).
I really really like Champions Online and since it was so cheap it is worth it. I keep seeing people saying there isn't enough content and I haven't had a problem. I might just not be deep enough into the game. Hopefully this sticks around as long as CoH and develops into a really great MMO. I've done the PVP a few times and the zombie map is so much fun. Darkfall, not so much. Overpriced for what you get, but don't get me wrong it is a fun game. I got really into it the night I bought it and had a blast doing some quests and pvping. I can see it shaping into a great game down the road, but right now I am having more fun in Champions. The customization in Champions is ridiculous and I love it. I could play the character creator alone for hours. I was thinking of going back to CoH and I'm glad I didn't. |

I could challenge someone right now to make 10 completely different themed characters on city of heroes (robot, ninja, pirate, cat girl, wolfman etc). In city of heroes theres at least 15 different types of pirates one could make right off the top of my head as well as the others, especially robots. In champions you could make a ton of robots, but as far as actual clothing its really limited. Have different levels of shine isnt exactly what I would call different textures for each costume piece. Not to mention the character eyes look weird. Its like they are too big, lack detail and are shaped weird. But its not a bad game, it just seems like they didn't have enough time to polish it up. I think a lot of people were expecting it to improve on everything that city of heroes lacked. But instead, it looks like they just made WoW with a better combat system and a super hero theme. I fail to see whats heroic about getting beat up easily by mutated hillbillies. The game does pick up in the city, but it just doesn't hold after a while. I remember the first 3 days of champions I was excited, but then it faded away after about a week or 2. |
