If you can live with older graphics, go play Baldurs Gate 1+2 or Planescape Torment. Had more fun with them as with ME, where i got stuck after playing for over an hour without saving...

At least give this game a shot, its $20 for the PC version. You can't beat that, and Mass Effect 2 is coming at the end of January. You can transfer the saves right over to the next game.

you missed out it was 9.99 on steam a week or so ago, it's a great game and yes some side quests are boring but some are pretty good and the main story is awesome

I never finished Mass Effect, I guess I got tired of it or I got bored because the story wasn't engaging enough. I'm playing Dragon Age right now, and I have to say that I think it is ten times better than Mass Effect in terms of story and gameplay. You might not like Mass Effect simply because it isn't as good as Dragon Age.

if ya go to gamestop you can get mass effect for like 10 bucks for pc(the price may be different in the website but if the store you go to has a lot of copies theyll be selling them for dirt cheap, i get most of my p2p mmo's for like 5 bucks at my gamestop since they dont sell much lol)

Closest things you'll find to DA:O. Also Icewind Dale 1+2 and the xpacs and though I haven't played it I heard Arcanum was a good game.
