Default Speeding up my internet?

So I use Cable internet access and it's supposed to be delivering 10 Mb/s. But from that test, I'm only getting half of that. Also, 4 minute Youtube videos load slow. Is there anyway I can improve this?

Yours is better than mine. Mine goes up to 10MB/s but only at times like 4am, and no downloading...And stays constant at 2MB/s during all other times..

Anyway, have you tried seeing if you are sharing the connection with unauthorized people?

Yes, and the network is password protected anyway.

WEP encryption is stupidly easy to break.

Are you using WEP? I've found people on our network even with WEP.

Not sure.

There are 4 things on my network.

My p.c, my sister's laptop, my dad's P.C, and my PS3. Though I'm pretty sure them being off while I'm on doesn't effect my browsing, right? My sister's laptop and my P.C are usually on at the same time and the connection is fine. My dad's P.C and my PS3 aren't on as often.

Distance to the local distribution cabin of your ISP do matter too. If you live too far away you won't be able to get full speed of it.
