atleast a 9800 series from nvidia. you can find them on ebay if you must for 60-100$ brand new, with warranties/never used.
newegg has them for a 90-100$ price range aswell if you up the budget a bit, you can aim for a HD 5770 or a GTX 260 these cards are great for the modern gamer. |

I heard if u put a PCI-E 2.0 card in a normal PCI-E x16 slot, it cuts performance by half.. |

as of now, video cards can barely saturate a PCI-E x16, yet alone a 2.0. unless you have a card with a 900,000 bandwidth. Last edited by corasked; 11-19-2009 at 09:46 PM. |

9800GT= processor of your card.
XFX= manufacturer. Other than cooling and a bit more mhz on your cards, there isn't much difference between the normal versions of thesame card.

i would go with either, EVGA, XFX, or Galaxy. EVGA Offers the step up program, which puts the cost of your video card towards another videocard, so like if you bought a 9800 for 100 dollars, and then 2 months later you wanted a GTX 260 for 160, they will lower the price by 100 dollars and you'll only have to pay 60. pretty awesome XFX tends to offer life time warranties, aswell as overclocked cards. galaxy has great cooling systems, their cards tend to run cooler than most on the market. |

Videocard memory is totally different than actual RAM. Its not DDR3, but GDDR3. which G stands for Graphics. Last edited by corasked; 11-19-2009 at 09:56 PM. |

As long you have the right slot for the card and PSU, you're set.
