Why would they buy out a company and then fire all of its staff?

Zing.

LOL GET IT?

If there is one thing I realized over the past several months; is that life is a very short experience, and it shouldn't be wasted avoiding opportunities, and instead of allowing minuscule things getting you down, you should smile and tip your hat, and accept any outcome, good or bad.

Why shouldn't they get away with this?
They are having problems so layoffs unfortunatly has to happen.

i'm more pissed off they fired most of the Command and Conquer team...

I guess i can look forward to subpar C&C games that don't even compare to C&C Generals or the classics.

Red Alert 3 was shithouse.

So much to comment on. Let's get started

Analysts aren't calling for the CEO of EA to resign, the Board of EA is. In early 2008 John Riccitiello sent EA in a new direction that let Developers control the games they made with out EA getting involved beyond publishing.

Riccitiello is the reason we got games like Mirror's Edge. Games that did something new but because they were never IP's didn't sell that well, but the biggest issue was the sudden downturn in the economy.

2007 was an amazing year for Game Publishers, and when Riccitello started he's march of innovation no one foresaw the economy crashing. People can't afford all the new games anymore and have to pick and choice, leaving many non-established IPs in the cold (i.e. Brutal Legend)

Most Analyst's and Game Critics love Riccitello for trying to break the mold and be innovative, but he's plan just doesn't work in our current economic climate.

EALA is taking on some of the staff, and those that didn't have gotten decent severance packages

Most of the C&C team got picked up (I forget by who) and they are talking about making C&C a digital game only for the future, so there is still hope for them to produce good titles.

Then Blizzard will just shit out good games that are split into 3 packages, then they add micro-transactions and monthly fees and force you to merge with Battle.Net, which will end up turning into a monthly fee for premium services with even more micro-transactions, which will glitch you for the 2 weeks it takes to contact customer service.

Great idea, bro.

Edit: Replace Blizzard with Activision. Herpaderp.

Yes but for avid C&C fans it looks pretty dull because EA would have copyrighted the name and any content related to Command & Conquer.

But you're right, there is always hope.

Desperate times calls for desperate decisions..

They are gonna start a new studio to handle C&C, a whole new setting/plot etc. Kane is no more.

After playing Mercenaries and Star Wars Battlefront 2 I'm sure as hell not going to miss them.
