Okay. I've had an iPod Touch 1G, 8 Gig for about... 3 or 4 years? since they first came out. it's worked fine and everything, until the end of this summer, when I was getting back into school the sound would mess up and rear to one ear on my headphone, I thought it was my earphones so I replaced them, but noep.
After awhile I searched up the factory warranty and found one, I sent it in for repairs and it got fixed just recently, and when I got it back what'd you know but it works! They wiped all my old info and replaced it with lincoln park, but damn it worked so I was happy with that. But two days later, (recently today), it started going back to it's old problems.. not working in one ear, and now it was worse, it didn't even read my headphones being in. And I haven't done anything that would of broken it, haven't dropped it, thrown it, even placed it down fast or shook it at ALL. So hmm.. What should I do... but. Buy another one. Literally. I'm done with my 1g and just went ahead and bought an 8gig 3rd gen.. Which I don't even know why I didn't do this in the first place. but bleh, even if it's an easy fix, I don't feel like putting up with this anymore. Has this happened to any of you guys? Did the factory warranty not help you on a product? Is this just my iPod, or is the headphone jack really that sensitive...? I don't know but I feel a little urked over this whole situation. Got any advice? I plan on handing in my touch to my mother, so she can use it instead of the little RCA thing she has. any advice on how I could fix it up before doing so? get the kit, or is there an easier way to doing this? |

I have had numerous problems with the sound output on my first gen iPod Touch. Turns out the hole was just full of dust ("anybody, no"). If you stick a needle or something else thin down there, you should be able to get a lot of junk out.
True story. |

iPod Touch is pretty great IMO, apps + music player + youtube + all = epic. plus the 3G has the crappy speaker and a few extra features the 1G doesn't have, so probably better. Just don't be too rough with it. the screen scratches easily.. (but it's weird because a friend at my school broke his screen in half and his songs still work and everything.. maybe it's just old?)
