I've been tempted lately to start playing a single player game but I was wondering what's the difference between online RPG grind and offline RPG grind? For example Diablo and Titan Quest compared to Dungeon Runners.. Isn't the concept the same? Eg. Get a quest, kill monsters, get loot, level up. What makes Diablo so appealing compared to all the generic MMORPGs out right now?

I wouldn't consider Diablo an offline RPG...it has a singleplayer component, but it can be played online.
Usually singleplayer RPGs like Dragon Age Origins or the Final Fantasy series have more involved stories and lots of cutscenes. MMORPGs, but their nature, are less involved with story and center more around achievment on a direct level (getting a high level, having more swag than everyone else). MMOs and Online RPGs also often have PVP, something you obviously can't get in singleplayer games. So basically Singleplayer: better story, doesn't consume your life unless you want to play it over and over again, there's a set beginning and end MMORPG: if there's a story, most ppl don't pay attention to it, way more addicting and competitive |

single player mmorpgs have a lot less grind time imo but the stories practically the same for every one of em... average dude becomes hero or mercenary/hero becomes protagonist then they go on journey, discovers truths, fights final boss and then goes like works done good bye
multiplayer mmorpgs are a lot more interesting in the part of character customization, interaction, and the possibilities given to you

Very few offline rpg's are a repeat of each other were as online ones are almost always the same thing.
Also you can put alot more into offline. Gameplays ussualy more crisp enjoyable and the storyline is much more indepth. I play online more for the challenge of fighting another person then fighting ai. |

I mean, the basic concept of good storytelling is to have a good guy, a bad guy, and something deep thrown in there. But the best RPGs tell that basic story very differently.
The point of every MMORPG is to level up, kill things, and craft items. And its usually a sure lot more repetitive and boring than good singleplayer RPGs. |

naa some single player rpgs i've played just involve me killing mobs to a lvl and killing a boss then rinse and repeat while also repeatedly trying to make me level up skills such as crafting blacksmithing and such

I've never known the term 'grind' UNTIL i started playing MMO's
Online RPG- Your basic and ultimate task is to be high level and powerful Offline - going through a story with an actual conclusion... usually by following the story itself, the level naturally increases without the gamer even realizes it, unless of course u skip too many battles and cannot beat a boss.
