So I had an older Wireless-G network router which was located in my living room. My dad moved his P.C into his room (about 2 medium-sized kitchens away) and since he said he was to lazy to wire some cable around the house... I bought a USB network adapter for him. After the install and what not, the signal strength was "very low". I thought the problem was either the router itself or the adapter. I realized the adapter was Wireless-N, so I thought that was the reason why the reception was so low. I then purchased a Wireless-N network router and after the install, the signal was the same.
The two peripherals are as followed... a Linksys Wireless-N Router, model number - WRT160N And a Linksys Wireless-N USB Adapter With Dual-Band and "Ultra RANGEPLUS", model number - WUSB600N The access point is currently on the ground in the living room, and the USB adapter is about eye level. Could it be the elevation the router is at that could be causing the problem? Or maybe even the range? It's about 50 feet from my dad's room to the living room. |

My guess would be the router since your adapter is "ultra-range" and the router can only give internet off only about a 50ft radius, unless you buy one of those gaming routers meant for playing like 200ft away.

Or a simple error like the walls weakening the signal.
