Post Project Commando (idea) -Looking For Team Members

Brief description:

Project commando is an online 2d sidescrolling shooter soon to be in development. It is planned to be written in flash (Client). Gameplay is similar to the flash games HELI ATTACK 3, and DOGFIGHT.

(Main game idea): The game takes place in the future. Humantity have shifted past planet earth, all human life are now trained to be experts in war, although they may choose not to use it. YOU of course are one of the many that have chosen the path of a Future soldier. The idea and or vision for this game is to be a browser based online shooter, it includes a MMOFPS style lobby in which players gather and socialize, sort of like gameplay without the shooting. There will be areas within the lobby where players can join a match lobby, there you can play the usual games like Deathmatch, Team deathmatch, and so on. I have written out sort of like a gigantic concept sheet that i will scan and present to the members of my team. Its nearly impossible for me to write it all out here so ill just tell you some main assets. As stated above there will be a lobby for players to gather, and an area in the lobby for matches. There will also be a mission mode in which require a certain level or rank achived for each mission. There wil also be a special mode called "War Mode" These will be events in which 200 players participate in a GIGANTIC TEAM MATCH.

Diffrent ways to play - As well as the HELI ATTACK 3 playstyle there will also be an AVIATION playstyle. It will be sort of similar to the flash game DOGFIGHT, except in a future scenario. In Team matches diffrent teams will start out with 3 ships on their side for quilified pilots to use. In Missions, usually a pilot will have to play his part as in fighting through swarms of enemys before reaching your parashooting point where "Weapon Specialists" take it from there. The pilot can then choose to land nearby and continue the mission with other weapon specialists, or provide air support. Some missions require stealth so this would be unwize in those scenarios.

Specializing in a Weapon - Players will be able to start with the weapon specialty of their choice. these will include Sniping/Tactical Sniping, AVIATION, assualt (assualt specialist),and a heavy aritllary specialist. It is planned that free players will only be able to specialize in assault while Suscribed members will get access to all the specialties. Unless you have taken the specialty class and have passed the qualification test you cant pick up weapons belonging to the certain specialty class in Matches, Missions, Or War matches.

Achivements/Titles: Throught the game players will unlock achivements and with every achivement a title. An example would be "The Assault Master" title. you would get the title by killing 300 enemies during missions, etc.

Special Gameplay Deatails: I Invisioned a type of Matrix style time freeze, This will slow down animations and gameflow in realtime. It also effects all enemies and allies in your range of sight. This will allow that ownage effect in the game that i just know most players will love (A system like this is implimented heli attack 3). This ability will be unlocked through a type of preset killstreak system.

Voicechat: Im not sure how an implimentation of voicechat could be possible in a flash game, or any browser based game but it must somehow be possible. If possible it will be implimented like any other online shooter with voice chat, only your team mates will hear it. . . etc. Everyone in your party will hear it during missions. Maybe War Matches also . . .

This is just a portion . . i hope it was enough to provoke your intrest

(Graphics): The Game is a 2d sidecrolling shooter (Excluding the flight gameplay). I Invisioned the graphics to be a bit like HELI ATTACK 3, but with a futuristic feel to it. Every game has its inspirations . . . .

Technology:

Im planning the game to be written in flash, as for the server, its the programmers choice to choose what'll work and what they're most confortable with.

The client will also have a facebook/Myspace extension

(Reason: I pictred the game to be a type of game at which you could gather socially and have fun, and anyways the communtiy will grow as news spreads from facebook page to facebook page like a wildfire.)

Team structure:
(The role of ME) - Team Leader/Lead Game Designer, Writer, potiental website designer "if someone with more experience refuses to come along", A Concepter/visionary, and most importantly: The Bank Of the Project. This means the money for the website and servers will come from my end. What about PAY you ask? keep reading . . .

PAY: Any pay to the members of the development team will come from compensation recived from the game itself and donations. An agreement will be settled out before any development itself proceeds. The main compensation from the game will come from players buying the "ELITE" premium player package.

Team Members Needed -

- a 2D lead programmer " should have experience in flash, and should be able to program to concept or as directed." If the programmer has a suggestion in shift from flash to another platform, and it still meets all our requirements it will be considered by me and the team alike.

- a 2D artist and/or animator "Basically our pixel expert, should be able to create sprite sheets of diffrent content, Base Sprites, weapon sprites, etc"

-a network programmer "Should be able to program the serverside things"(im extensively inexperienced in this area of game development)when we find one I wish to learn from the experience of working with someone with that extent of knowledge.

- a composer "should be able to compose pieces to match the thrilling and "unexpectant" feeling i felt this game to have. . . similar to (currently searching for examples)"

Communication: i plan for the team to communicate through a chat room or a voice chat system. Of course ill have our fourms/website ready when we need it.

Project Plans: Once I have the team together and we settle all the "preresquites" i plan for us to begin our extensive communications with the programmer to get an idea of whats possible and what milestones we will be able to achive out of the client engine by the alfa. from there our graphics artists will start developing content. I will have our method of communications settled out by then.

Possibly some monthes into development we will release an offline "Pre alfa" just to let players get a taste for the gameplay, and possibly generate some Hype for the game. We will have an ad system like MOCHIADS installed, this should at least generate some profit (I'm personally not expecting much)

From there we will modify the Alfa Engine to the beta (im estimating it will take us a little less than a year to achieve this milestone) which will be like a "DEMO" giving users a taste of the online play. Not all features will be included. Features that ARE included will be discussed by the team. Near the end of the beta we will release the ELITE premium player system (to be discussed by the development team), all i can surely tell you about it now is that it WILL cost money and it will make your game experience about 45% Greater. I am planning purchases to be as convienient as having a pay through cell phone option available, or game card. The release of the premium option may not be implimented until the full release, depending on the opinions of the team members.

I believe flash can use a mic so if the server can handle it I guess this is possible.
