Just so you know I posted on the previous post that The monitor did turn on when plugged into the laptop but after the windows boot loading screen it shut back off. It also sounded like the laptop was restarting.

I've had this problem before. I fixed it by getting rid of the battery. Try powering your laptop on only outlet. Get rid of your battery, it is stopping power from your outlet to you laptop.
This is because all the power u are getting from your outlet is used to recharge your battery. But ur battery isn't sending any energy. so it ends up being that your laptop wont start. I could be completely correct or completely wrong

Irony, if you can keep getting past POST with the other screen plugged in, try with a live cd/bootable usb (if your laptop supports it) and check your hdd for errors.

If it's anything similar to my previous issues with my desktop (Turns on , shuts off. Turns on for maybe a minute, shuts off, etc)
Then it's the video card. Or at least, that was what was wrong with mine. |

A live cd is a disc with an OS of its own running straight from the cd without installing on the HDD.
It can be useful for when you cannot boot into windows anymore and has a wide variaty of uses. System rescue cd is a decent one, and as the name suggest you need to burn it before you can use it. :/ edit: or if you are lazy (and have time, which you said you didn't have though) I'd go to a computer shop and let it check though. I'm pretty sure that by this stage your laptop has some hardware damage.

I had a similar issue where my desktop showed the bsod and the next day, it shut off on its own, and it continued to restart by itself in shorter increments until it was shutting off and turning on every second. it wasn't the hdd or the graphics card, but the mobo itself. The only thing I could do was get another computer.

Are there definitely no beeps when you hear it trying to start up? This can usually tell you what is causing the problem. Listen for the number of beeps and whether they are short or long.
If there are no beeps, it might be the mobo, which will mean the laptop is busted. |
