Default Mabye you all can help.. PSU or Mobo Died?

This is taken from the post on my computer builders forums but should give you all an idea of what has happened.
Quote:
I was in the middle of playing WoW and my computer suddenly shut off. Now it won't boot, the fans spin a little and the indicator lights on my DVD drives flash but then it immediatly shuts off again. It was running perfect and I've only had a few BSOD's due to driver issues with my video card, but I sorted those out quickly.

On to the boot issue again, the motherboard is an EVGA x58 SLI LE and it seems that there is a blue indicator light on and when I try to boot it sometimes an orange one will come on for a few minutes than turn off again. I will try the paper clip test if that is reccomended but would like to have this sorted out.

Update a little:

Disconnected USB ports thinking it may be an issue with those and now it sort of turn on but just sits there with all the indicator lights on for the DVD drives and still does not boot. I also had the case lights off for my computer so I tried to turn them on and noticed that the two cold cathode tubes, the light in the front of the case and the forward case fan were not working. The case is an HAF922 by the way.

Kinda worried right now due to the fact classes start the 18th for me again and would be sucky if I had to send it in.

Another Update:

Swapped around the memory sticks and nothing more, computer will not turn off with the power button and the hard drives are not spinning up.

Does your MoBo have a little green LED? If it lights up, it's probably your MoBo. If it isn't lit, the PSU is dead.

Yes, I have the green light which means its the mobo. Guess I'll have to send it in to be fixed, yay for warranties... boo for waiting.

I don't agree xD I got a green LED and it shows my mobo is on. So it's possible it's his psu. It could never hurt to buy a new psu and try it out before going for a new mobo.

If the PSU is dead, it means it doesn't power the parts anymore, so please, tell me how the green light could be on when there is no power available.

Hmmm, does your PSU smell odd?

I would not bet my box on it being save to use in any way.

@Darksin:
One of the many boxes I fried, was a desktop doing some video rendering in OC mode, whilst I was gone. When I came home it smelled really really burnt; I opened up the PSU later and all condensers were cooked.
Mobo was shot, but the lights of the HDD and power diode would flash on for a sec, if I pressed the power button, as well as the fans would do a little jump.

but if the mobo is dead it shouldn't do anything anymore not even a green light.

Depends on what happened to it. If you hit it with a sledgehammer it won't light up the green light.
If it's a shortcircuit it still can, depending on what got shortcircuited.

2 different PCs I had got their mobos fried and the second time I could boot up and everything spins etc, went past POST without trouble, but than my monitor said it didn't receive a signal. Changed GPU, nothing.
