Default My first build

Hey everyone,

I was looking at my piece of crap PC today, and realized I want to really start gaming, instead of just pure MMO's. So I need some experts to help me with my first build.

1. I have a budget, under $600.
2. Yes, I will buy online. Preferably from newegg or tigerdirect, because I trust them. But if you can find better deals elsewhere, feel free to include them.
3. I need everything but a OS. I already have a copy of W7 64bit.

First off, I've been looking around at Newegg and I found this card, can anyone tell me if it's good?

It's getting decent reviews on other websites, but idk. The last time I purchased a card, Vista was just released. So if anyone knows anything about it, help is appreciated.

Total 624.00, with shipping 640~ if you can penny in alittle more, you will have a great little system here.

although, you will have to wait awhile with the 5770, the 5xxx drivers are still maturing.

Well, it would probably be worth it to upgrade that 2 gigs of ram to 4 gigs, if I could find a decent deal, right?

newegg has a good cheap bfg 9800gt card not the top of the top but it will run all games well (well we will see wgat the next few years have in stack for us)

here it is

cheap for a well clocked 9800gt and ot a bfg so it defin overclocked to good fps should be common place.

I would drop the CPU cooler if you aren't going to overclock or until the heath becomes a problem (60°C+ idle). If you find the sound of the stock cooler bothersome, you could get one.

While a triplecore isn't bad, I'd look into a quadcore as well. If you decide to not go with the CPU cooler, look into the phenom II x4 955.

If anyone would like me to build a rig, I'd prefer it to be in a thread in the tech section rather than PM. Thank you.
