Default project on designer babies

im suppose to do a project on the debate of the genetic manipulation of babies.

is a child's body consider their own privacy? i could not find anything on google about canadian laws on child rights and etc......

this is getting really frustrating.

I don't think we should do it, because it meddles in evolution. Nobody should be able to pick traits for their children in such a way. Ever.

Or is it the next step in evolution? It's like the plastic surgery argument. While most surgeries are unnecessary and are purely for vanity's sake, some actually do help people feel better about themselves or at least get back a little bit of what they have after a disfiguring accident/disease.
If you knew that your baby was going to have a genetic disease, would you not want it to undergo gene therapy? But then again, if you knew that your child was going to have brown eyes but you want blue eyes, would that be enough to discourage lawmakers from passing regulations that would allow for gene therapy that could save a child and their parents from the agony of having a disease that kills them at age 13?

Its a slippery slope before everyone is "perfect" and the natural born people wage war or maybe the other way around. People go to war over such petty things, its hard to imagine something like this not causing a huge rift in human kind.
