if he's not planning to play games on it, then why spend so much? You should be able to get one for a lot cheaper.

He's planning on getting into gaming with this computer. And from what I've seen the computer is acceptable.

It looks good, but 4860 CF is basically, a low power version of a 4850 CF. Also, that i7 isn't great.. Personally I'd pick all the parts myself, rather than a barebone pack.

Crossfiring two mid end cards? I'd rather just buy one high end one.

If he doesn't plan to do anything besides gaming, id say go AMD route and put the extra money towards a better graphics card. Unless he does, still drop those graphics cards and get something better.
This seems alot better combo if you go the AMD route-

you kidding? that i7 is one of the best ones you can buy, overclocks like a beast, also per above, Intel is far ahead of AMD in terms of processors at the moment.

From the build on the above post, change the graphics cards, why buy 2 low end ones when you can get a higher end one?

You can see that the i7 920 is pretty much faster in everything due to the HT but gaming, where it's pretty balanced(remember certain companies put more support on Intel since it's a bigger company. Go launch UT3, and you'll see a logo saying "Works best on Intel Core 2 Extreme" or something) Plus, you don't need Tri-Channel to gain the extra performance, so you save about $40 on RAM, you have native x16/x16 CF, and you save about $90 on the CPU.
