Blizzard Entertainment has announced that Cataclysm is going to be like Burning Crusade. Where gear is actually a challenge to get, they released wrath to fund Cataclysm and the Next gen MMO. Although their player count did go up, many old players quit because of the lack of skill the game required to play.

I don't know about you, but I like Burning Crusade over WotLK.

there alot of player that quit in BC also due to the fact that it take about 1 year just to full clear BT with a decent guild like a month per boss so i like WOTLK because with ICC the first few boss is easy but it get harder there only about 100 guilds that have down Putrices World Wide so it does take some challege to do the raid and it let people not get bore and do some heroic and get into icc with 1-2 months of farming it WOTLK all the way

i too prefer wotlk over bc.i may not have been maxxed out in bc but i have friends who were...and yes it did require alot of time and patience to get there.so pretty much cata will go back to about 1% of the wow pop getting the good gear while us casuals are left behind? (all casuals arent bad...just its hard to find time for hrs of raids when you work full time and have a gf and a child).heck i just recently did toc 10man on saturday for the 1st time...and im proud of it.i dont want the best gear or to be able to go through raids like nothing...as im currently only up to os 10man/25man and ive done like 2 quarters of naxx,and 10man toc and 10man ony.

I liked the bc time period. Loved the armor sets, the balancing at the time. Wish i could go back. But WOTLK was a bit more tailored for casuals like me.

I just got my druid to 80, I geared him up to ICC ready as tank in 6 days.

Even though I love my gear, it was too easy to get.

It's gear>skill in PvP. hit for a 10k Lava burst.
3 shotted by ret.

well if u had more res u wouldn;t get 3 shot or 10k but u talking about ICC raid 10/25mans or ICC heroic 5mans

I have 963 Resil.... Yes I know, the recent content is a bit more challenging. Still not much compared to BC.

i hope cata turns out how everyone wants personally.had a long discussion with my guild the other day and their annoyed by how its being dumbed down even more (removing some stats such as def rating,sp,etc)...i tried to explain to them skill plays a good role in the person but they didnt get it.their opinion is now everyone will be the same for their class (all prot pallies will be the same,all holy priests the same,etc) because you wont need to choose and weed out gear with certain stats.told them even with gear you could still suck i.e. look at all the dk hate still...and that tanks and healers and dps will still need some kind of skill to get the job done.

they then brought to my attention if you lvl as dps you cant be good at tanking or healing,which ive proven them wrong on.mentioned i lvled as ret on my pally and switched to prot at 80 and ive tanked nearly everything now flawlessly.overall i just hope theres something in cata to keep everyone happy (casuals/elitists).i dont like games where if you have a life outside the game you cant see some of the content,its like punishing you for having a life.thats why i like wotlk...im a casual but before cata hits ill still prolly get to see the lich king go down.

nah their all really cool.i just think they focus on how dumbed down its gonna get.in their eyes nobody will be unique anymore (which i kind of understand) but skill still plays a big part in pve.and before anyones comes in and "lol pve takes no skill" yeah it does...if it doesnt show me all your hardmode achievements plus all of ICC achievements thats out currently.
