I just started playing and was wondering...
Where does everyone play? ;O (Or did the English community died down already?)

No...for Kr MHFO.
most english speakers go to World 2 Channel 9
If you speak thai, you'll love World 6 Channel 5.
Edit: You will find BR's in both of those channels
and a board of english speakers with various guides if you sign up.

It is possible to use a controller.
I personally use the keyboard, so i can't help you configure your controller. sorry

when in game.
hit esc-> 2nd to last option -> Z (im not really sure after this)
more like go to the forum i linked you, theres a guide for the basic stuff such as this.

Anyone know how to get the launcher to update? I got my unicode set to Korean but I still get that error that pops up.
