Can someone tell me what an abstract is and what you're supposed to put in it? Whenever I do reports I really don't know what I'm supposed to put in abstract so I just something about what I did for the report and hope I get it right.

Something else abstract I think it's like an analysis in a lab report

An abstract is pretty much a summary of your report. You put the main ideas of the introduction, talk a little bit about the experiment or whatever you did (not in detail) and the results you got.

It's supposed to be brief and give the reader an overall idea of what your report is about.
