They are making an MMO, however it's more of a fan-game MMO. There's a few Zelda MMO's lying around, one which is pretty dead, the other still in development (World of Hyrule Online).

But, making an MMO of my favorite game would just ruin it.

I really can't seem to think of a game that was originally on console that ever went on to have a successful MMO (Online services excluded)
