I think everyone in this thread is looking at it the wrong way. Being a member of the staff of the Christian Church is not just a religious choice, but also a job. Priests and bishops have salaries and get paid by the church. Firing gays would be like sexual or racial discrimination, which as we all know is not allowed.
It is up to the government to protect these people's jobs, which is why I think the government has the right to interfere with the church's policy.

Let's say a sales guy who doesn't change cloths can't be fired, just because he willfully decided to do so? That is never going to work out that way m8. Some people never are going to be a fashion model, no matter how loud they yell "discrimination". The only thing you can do is not supporting haute couture. So Ronin, according to your analogy, are you saying homosexuality is something someone "willfully decides to do so"?
In this particular case, don't you think it would have been a better example saying something like: a guy getting fired or not being hired at all because he is black, or disabled, or hispanic, or... |
