Runes of Magic is okay, but the PVP servers are being left in the dust to die. Runewalker/Frogster don't seem to care much about people who want to PVP.

So, because I raged on their forums for a while and they banned me over it I'm gonna say avoid Runes. Instead, play Eve Online. Eve has GORGEOUS graphics and undoubtedly the best PVP system you will ever see in any game.

Let me explain: You can kill anybody, anywhere. You lose your stuff when you blow up (WHICH MEANS: you get the player's stuff that you kill.) There are some restrictions on PVP but they are so loose all it means is if you blow somebody up in high security areas, you lose your ship too. Additionally, you can be in a "party" with over 1,000 people at once.

Add on top of that the server boasts over 56,000 players online at any given time and you've basically got the best game ever.

It is p2p but there is a 14 day trial, haven't heard of the becoming free thing. If ur interested google eve online should be able to find the trial there and give it a shot. It does take a while to do stuff at the start but if ya got 14 free days and u use em, u will know if it's for you or not.

Best MMORPG.

...

Continent of the Ninth

But I wouldn't bother playing it, because it looks violent, and it is not available in English.

Once you become good at Eve, you can pay for your subscription buy buying "Plex" which stands for "Pilot license extension." It adds 30 days to your account and it is an item you buy ingame with ingame money.

It's realistic after about 3-4 months.

I keep hearing Eve is awesome too, but I played the trial and just fouind it super boring. I mean...its just space. Now if I could explore planets and stuff and then have space fights and stuff, that'd be nice. But I just can't see how so many people find Eve Online fun. I played a few hours with my friend. He seemed to liked it.

Anyways. The free mmo doesn't exist, because its opinion based and blah blah blah.

You can afford the monthly fee if you think about it. 15 dollars a month is not a lot of money. Think about all the junk you spend money on every week. 6-7 dollar meals at a fast food place, 2 dollars on a soda or a snack here and there. Think about all the things you spend money on that you can live without and you'd come up with more than 15 dollars. Unless you're a kid that doesnt get an allowance.

But if you really want some free mmos, I'd say just find a list and try them all because they're all the same at the core. transparent community, grindy, generic, cash shops, etc. You can have fun in them though if you play with some friends.

Despite what anybody says, the trial is not really "enough" to get you interested if you aren't interested from the start.

The game is very, very niche. If it doesn't pull you in being sci-fi from the start you probably won't like it. As you progress through your Eve career, you develop skills that start to create a unique character. You can do anything you want, and that's where some of the boredom comes from. There are no scripts in Eve, everything happens because you want it to. You have to choose what to do and a lot of people need a guide to tell them what to do. You don't get a guide here. Sure there are a few tutorial agents but after that you're on your own. And trust me, there is nothing like a true PVP battle when you have a battleship with expensive modules fitted to it on the line and your heart is pounding. You can lose everything, or you can come out a winner and have much to gain.

Eve develops over time. It is NOT instant gratification.
