I was looking for an MMO to play with my girlfriend. I'm kind of picky, so I'll try to narrow it down.
1) I love communities! I like sitting around and talking to a group of people. And then deciding to go attack some boss (which we'll probably fail miserably), or run into PvP and start a war. If you know of a game with a great community, where you can see people actively socializing and not always being so hard pressed to level, I'd be quite interested. Social guilds were always the most fun. I like games that encourage socialization... Ragnarok Online has been my favorite MMO for years, unfortunately the server I played on is kind of.. Dying. 2) I realize that most if not all MMOs have you grind, but I like my efforts to go rewarded. In other words, I like games with end game content. I don't want to play a game like MapleStory where you don't really gain anything as you progress, and there's no endgame PvP or anything at all to do aside from grind some more. 3) I'd prefer something that isn't a shooter. I prefer something that is moreso casual that doesn't really require amazing reflexes. Thanks in advance~! |

City of Heroes is perfect for you and your girl.
Its got a great community. Theres a ton of bosses know as Giant Monsters through out the city that you get special rewards for and require a bunch of people to fight. People are always forming massive groups to take them down. Very fun. Missions/quests scale based on party size and people are always teaming. I've played for 3 or 4 years now and have never done any missions without a team except on a few occasions where I was trying to unlock a special costume item. There are pvp zones where you can do special missions anytime you want. They are pvp zones because villains and heroes share the space and are always fighting. I hate pvp and even I find this fun. It adds a bit of danger and it doesnt force you into pvp. You can either embrace it or run away if you can lol. The moment you start, you get a few powers and every level you either get a new power or make your current powers stronger. This is what i really like. You know how in most MMOs you gain a new skill ever 5 or 6 levels? Thats not the case here. theres constant progression. As for end game content, when you get the max level, you dont stop getting stronger. You can keep doing missions, hunt for giant monster etc to make your powers even more stronger. It never really ends. I've done nothing but play with my level 50 characters making them better within the last 4 months. Each pvp zone has different goals. Like lauching a big missle, rescuing (or kidnapping if you're a villain) scientists and stuff, and taking over territory etc. So pvp isnt just fighting each other, its about preventing that villain from blowing up a structure, or preventing hero from saving someone. Your girlfriend will love it (and you too) for the character creation. You can make anything you can think of. different variations of pirates, ninjas, robots, anything. Its a super hero game, so its all about costumes. If you can imagine it, you can most likely make it. You can also edit the way your powers look now. Also, theres a Duo system where you and your girlfriend can share exp no matter what. So if you are playing and she's logged out, she'll still gain exp and you'll always be the same level. Both of you should get the free trial and try it out. I hope you werent expecting a free to play mmo, or else i typed all that for nothing. If you do want a free mmo though, I'd suggest Conquer Online because it forces high levels to help lower levels because it rewards the higher levels. |

This is kinda off topic but you are sooooooooooo lucky to find a girl you like that ALSO likes to play mmos. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO lucky.
![]() a lot of mmos are couple friendly. Just remember it has to be something that she also likes. Remember, GIRLS>VIDEO GAMES.

I bet anyone that says that that OP is lucky that they have a gamer girlfriend has never asked their girlfriend to play with them.
My girlfriend is techoretarded and I asked her if she would like to play World of Warcraft with me for about a week. She picked up the game easily and enjoyed it for the trial then abandoned it because she didn't want to get addicted to it...like me. Even crazier, I thought she would want to play Alliance, but she chose horde and was a troll. ![]() TL;DR, if you ask your girlfriend to play a game with you, she will. You just have to find the right game. |

Angels Online - an isometric rpg with a good skills-system
Land of Destiny - a city-building game Trickster Online - like Angels Online, with more emphasis on questing and less on gathering resources PsyPets - Sorry to offend, but this has the best in-game community I have ever played in. My in-game name is Phenoca. |
