Some forums make their users have X number of posts before they can create their own threads.
I think it would cut down a bit on spam...or it may just make the bots spam up the place so they can create new threads. |

Sorry, but this is very unlikely to happen.
The Staff is not going to inconvenience members who just want to ask a simple question because the Moderators don't want to deal with a little extra spam. And also, it would help very little with spam anyway. A lot of spambots nowadays put their advertisements in their sig and make somewhat normal posts, or make normal posts and hotlink random words with advertisements. New topics aren't necessary for them to get their message across. There's no good reason to implement this. |

I've seen it tried on another board in the past where they implemented 10 posts as a requirement to create a thread. It simply resulted in people spamming 10 irrelevant answers in different threads until they could create the topic they desired. Needless to say, the 'improvement' was removed a few days later.
