Yes well said Scottc, and I think eac programming launguage has its ow 'World Launguage' Much like English,Spanis, ect World Launguages. If you are going to make a network game, it depends how much you want on the game and how fast you can load it.For Java, you can make a browser game, but how much can you load onto it, or how long will it take to load? With C/C++ you can handel more, and load more but the files must be downloaded.

Hhmmzz.. I dissagree tabout that overly simplified difference between Java and C++/ Java can be used for very advanced client applications as well. Some of todays greatest games use Java at their core (Anyone know the game Oblivion?)
Oblivion is one of the best examples of Java being used for a game. The entire Game engine (not the graphics engine, the GAME engine for that game was written in Java. The advantage of Java is that you can build most if not all of the game in one language and distribute it amongst several different OSs. In case of Oblivion setup, the only thing that needed changing to be able to port it to another OS was the graphics engine being used. The game enige, which is the biggest part of the game by far, can be ported without change. This speeds up porting a game tremendously. I've posted a link to an online version of a book about game programming jan Java, I'm reposting it here. Killer Game Programming in Java Everyone who is biased about Java being used for games and thinks that Java for games is BAD and C++ is hte only way to go, just go there and read the first chapter. Just my 2 cents. Mark |

Will c++ is harder to start out with. But also age of empires series was made out of C++. A lot of games are made out of c++. (Just saying). But yea it is hard to start with.
