Default Activision poops all over CoD franchise

To sum up the two stories below, basically the two heads of InfinityWard (one of the developers of Call of Duty games, most notably MW and MW2), Jason West and Vince Zampella have been fired by Activision for "insubordination and breach of contract."

West and Zampella are suing Activision, claiming that they basically made up a reason to fire them because they didn't want to pay the two of them royalties they were due from the stellar sales of MW2.

If true, good job Activision for squashing the guys who built InfinityWard from the ground up. At least we have Treyarch?

As long as they own the name, this isn't going to stop them from making more call of duty games, of course. I mean, how hard can it be to do.

You know what's funny? These two same employees worked for EA and were a big part of the Medal of Honor series. They decided to leave after Medal of Honor: Frontlines and created Infinity Ward, which of course led to Call of Duty. Who knows what they will do now?

Get ready for a new company and FPS series, guys.

You're worried about the CoD franchise? It's been the same shit Activision has been forcing it to be since forever. I want these guys to get paid and Activision to get ****ed.

Don't forget Sledgehammer Games, who are making an action/adventure COD game according to Joystiq.

This exactly. The cod games may be good, but I wouldn't call them innovative. Not anymore anyway. They could just hire anyone they wanted, and as long as they stuck with the formula, they'd do fine.

*hasn't bought a CoD game since cod2*

pffft who gives a f*ck, CoD is f*cking rubbish now thanks to consolified sequels

all people care about now is rpg elements in their fps games so that they can brag over pointless achievements

stupid yuppies deserve everything they get for buying consoles and paying for cut-corner game franchises that reduce options but increase illusion of choice with every new sequel.

EA did this to westwood and every other game under their control, now its happened to CoD, its the way of things. you cant stop it.

money + impulse buying = crummier games

you people should complain about lack of features instead of complaining about that 360 degree headshot or jump suicide or dropshot or boosting.

call me bitter, but thats like calling sugar sweet. retards will still buy CoD games though, or whatever the next series is, and thats what the problem is.

if you buy crap they will sell you crap. dont come running to me when PC gaming dies and consoles have nothing to sustain themselves anymore.

I hate games where the focus is so obviously on online play, period. people who play games online (especially shooters) are, mostly, a bunch of prepubescent ****wits with shrill voices and no sense of wit, with no lives apart from improving their skill at their game of choice

Well that's a bit misdirected. Whenever I played games, I typically only played online. (In fact this site was founded on Online games; hence the name). Yes I played shooters, but I didn't have a shrill voice. I did have a life outside of video games though I was good at the style I played. As for the last comment, do you recommend people try to be really good at all types? Being a jack of many trades, master of none gets you nowhere.

it wasn't specifically directed at you, if you aren't like that, well, awesome :]

and I'm suggesting that grinding obsessively at one game till you're amazing at it is something that I, for one, have no time for.
