I don't care because I don't watch it.
All I care about is the world's artists being credible, honest and "making it" on their own steam. The second anyone sets foot on one of those shows, technical ability or no technical ability, they lose all credibility. That kid is only impressive because he's chubby and Asian. If a girl did that nobody would be saying anything. |

The people that go on those shows and DO have legitimately good voices would have been discovered anyway if they REALLY wanted to make it. The winner gets a record deal, at least two runners up usually get record deals anyway. It's a farce. I rest assured knowing that the people I listen to go where they are, if anywhere, because of their own work. Not because they're whores. It's a big deal to me. If they really wanted to find legitimate talent, they'd go around to music schools and academies, or even scouting local shows, and picking CREATIVELY hopeful individuals or collectives to showcase their skills. Find a band in a pub that sounds really good and, without trying to make them marketable, put them out there and see what happens. That is if these shows simply MUST exist. Same with singers. Find people who can write a song first, not someone who's wicked at singing other people's songs. |
