Default Netbook friendly MMO's!

I have been playing MMORPG's for about 6 years now, and have gone through a standard Windows Desktop and a couple of standard sized laptops.

Recently my latest standard sized laptop has gone up on me, and after asking my mother for a new one she has purchased a paticular sized Acer model.

The Acer Netbook.

As I am grateful for another laptop in a minimal time and will be attending college next fall, there has been one problem relating to my love for MMO's.

Not any of the obviously listed spec's that you may find on a website for a certain MMO, but the screen size. As most of you know, every MMO can fit on a standard monitor screen and/or laptop screen, but what about netbook screens? Some MMO's can not fit on my screen whether it be in windowed, (If supported) or Full Screen, after days of searching, (and downloading) I managed to find one, (Which will be listed) I decided to start downloading many more MMO's to compile a list of Netbook friendly MMO's.

These MMO's are not listed based on spec's but based on whether or not they can fit on your screen. Also I will include multiplayer games that run on Netbooks as well.

1. Destiny Online (F2P, Item Mall) - http://destiny.enjoymmo.com/

2. Lost Saga (F2P, Item Mall) - http://lostsaga.ogplanet.com/

3. Fiesta Online (F2P, Item Mall) - http://Fiesta.Outspark.com

4. Fantasy Earth Zero (F2P) - http://fez.gamepotusa.com

5. Conquer Online (F2P, Item Mall) - http://co.91.com

6. Soldat (F2P, Optional Subscription) - http://www.soldat.pl

7. Diablos 2 (P2P, can now download of site with CD Key) (What did you expect? xD) - http://www.blizzard.com

8. Rumble Fighter (F2P, Item Mall) - http://rf.ogplanet.com

9. Ghost X (F2P, Item Mall) - http://ghostx.gamekiss.com

10. Asda Story (F2P) - http://www.gamescampus.com

I know the list is short, but I will add more as I have seem to have forgotten others that have worked. My point of compiling this list is because every MMO that I have tried but was not supported by my screen size, has been brought up to the developers of the game via Forums and/or Email, and every time I basically get a polite "Well I guess your SOL".

I am also aware that this problem only relates to a minority of MMO players but is still an issue none the less.

PLEASE post MMO's that have either worked or have not worked due to screen size, NOT SPEC ISSUES!

Also please post whether or not there were problems or information missing within this post.

Thank You!

You could buy a monitor and project it onto the screen via VGA cables. It's what I did for a good month or two when my PC went down and was too lazy to get it fixed. Also, Maplestory works fine on it.

Edit: Check out this thread as well. http://www.onrpg.com/boards/71116.html

How do you mean by not supported? The screen resolution or what?

Anyways, if you have bought a NETbook, you shouldn't be gaming at all.
With a 10" screen, it'd be better to get a handheld console with games that you know it'll work.
Otherwise you should've gone for a laptop around 600-700usd that comes with a HD screen with at least 1024*768 (pretty much the min req for games) and everything more. :/

@Sairou, that would work too, but once you get past the resolution barrier, specs will come in and netbooks rarely have anything decent in them.

True enough, but they still meet the minimum requirements and can play anything pre-2003 decently for the most part.

Oh yeah, Quake3Arena runs perfectly on it.

I don't get it. Even if the computer wasn't designed for it, if it can actually run certain games decently, why shouldn't you use it for gaming? As long as you are realistic, that is.

Anyway, I used to have a Netbook but didn't really try any games on it (gave it to my mom since I barely used it). OP have you tried games like Maple Story or Dungeon Fighter Online? I'm not certain DFO will run due to specs (trust me, it's more CPU heavy than it looks) but since it has the option to be played in a window, I assume it would fit.

Because most games today put more stress on your hardware than you'd think.

Since a netbook isn't big and probably also won't have a good cooling system, gaming could be fatal one day, simply because the designers didn't think it would be used for such things.
(see 'small size' and 'not a good cooling system' for those that missed the point)

Work simulator, just like the reason WoW isn't on the list.

am i missing something or are you guys mixing up the concept of NETBOOK.... a netbook has generally almost to none graphics capabilities and a screen so small you cant play shit over 640x480(or 800x600 if the text is a bit bigger) screen resolution or the text would just look too small to read in most mmorpgs

all netbooks (like notebooks with integrated GPU) use shared RAM usage (if the netbook has more than max 32mb for possible GPU usage theoretically, then you get a memory pageing error when system memory cuts into GPU memory)

also netbooks have non-standard resolutions like 1024x600 (true that 2010 brought us a netbook with capable upto 1280x800) whitch may just get you errors when you try to run fullscreen anyhow whitch brings us to a max resolution of 800x600...

SO
my sugsestion would be to try older 2d isometric games or perhaps sidescrollers like maple, but theoretically your netbook is NOT able to play any games with a hint to 3D graphics (mainly the reason would be the lack of GPU power and they dont support shaders)

PS if you hadnt noticed.... no netbook retailer actually say anything about graphics capabilities on ANY netbooks at all
