I would like an MMORPG where you can build cities and towns. I liked star wars galaxies before the ruination and would really like something similar to their system.

Lots of places to build, Player made cities, businesses set up in the cities. I like the aspect of controlling the landscape.

It has to be somewhat new, I don't want to play a super old game, Preferably one that is still fun at its core as well!

While I don't know exactly how SWG ran their city building within the game (I played for the combat... back when it was good and force based characters had to be unlocked), I'd say look into Kingdom Heroes. It is a new mmorpg that is coming out soon, probably in this month (closed beta). It has where you can build a city. As for shops and other things... That hasn't been stated yet. It might wind up working that way.

Sadly there aren't enough games with this feature. Wurm is probably the closest to what you're looking for, but that game is ancient.

You best bet would be to wait for Mortal Online comes out.

Well if your really set on the building style of Galaxies, there is a team recreating SWG in all its former glory. Of course its not complete yet, and one of the things they are missing is structure and city placement, but once its implimented then i guess you can enjoy good old SWG. Untill then mostly everything else works so you can still play it, plus theres no monthly subscription fees. Oh i almost forgot, its called swgemu.

You could try Haven and Hearth. Its basically a survival mmo and everything is built by the players, though it doesn't have really great graphics. www.havenandhearth.com Enjoy!

you are describing shadowbane..... player build castles for guilds and player built shopping cites for the public.

Unfortunately, I should have posted what I have already tried >.<

I have been waiting for SWGemu for longer than I can remember. The project they undertook is a massive one. I will always closely watch this mod to see if it ever comes out.

Mortal Online has real problems at it's core. The engine they picked for the game is completely not suited for the type of game they are trying to make. The lag , disconnect, and even login issues(like being killed on log-in) are not being addressed.

Shadowbane is a bit old and I tried playing the trial once and was really confused!

I guess I will give Haven & Hearth a try
