Life goes on as normal. Humans always try to keep life going as normal, shunning any kind of change with their normality at stake. So, obviously, they would immediately become hostile towards something that changes them completely. They shun this thing, they hunt it down and attempt to kill it. This change is the single biggest change in history. People continue on like its nothing, like its just another war that doesn't involve them, or just another mugger that's targeting a rich man, but it is the biggest change in human history.

Look at the closest person you can find. Look in their eye, then say they are completely human. You can say that confidently. You can say that without fear of it being a lie. They cannot. They must keep cautious, for the world is now filled by the Mutation. The Mutation does not raise the dead, give great power without sacrifice, nor cause a plague that destroys. It gives powers, but they fill their owners with pain and madness. It destroys humanity, granting great power but creating mere beasts that no longer consider themselves human.

The year is 2020, humanity has progressed some, but not much, not with super advanced weapons or endless supplies. there are still wars, battles, slaughters. America is the same, but cleaner, with stricter laws. The Mutation goes through, hidden from sight with the humanity they themselves might think they possess. The government wishes to destroy the Mutation, for it is a threat in its final stages.

Now the Mutation forces its host to do what they can to survive. For survival, is the basis of mutation, and mutation is the basis of evolution.

Technology: Okay, the techs pretty advanced now, but still not in super sci-fi futuristic mode. They have suits that can increase strength, but these are rare, hard to produce, and expensive. They have the beginnings of laser weapons, but they're inaccurate and bulky, requiering lots of energy to use. Holograms exist, but they are somewhat grey, staticked, and glitchy. So just think modern society knocked up a notch.

Mutation: The Mutation lives in stages, and is a seperate mind from the host. Mutations are cold-blooded, requiring to feed on humans in the fift stage and doing it without hesitation, they are intellegent and emotionally dead, veiwing the world in a calculating way. A good way to sum them is if you've read the manga "Parasyte" they're kind of like those guys. The mutation has different or more powerful effects throughout its stages, which will be explained. No one knows how they gain the Mutation, they just begin to notice it at some point in their lives. Then others notice and attempt to kill it before it can reach its final stages.

Stage one: This is the earliest stage, noticable only through very close observation. It increases the strength, endurance, agility, and overall physical ability of the host. The Mutation does not have a voice yet, and has no influence upon the actions of the host.

Stage two: The second stage is more noticable, enhancing the hosts physical ability to almost inhuman levels, and the Mutation gains a voice, able to speak to the host and have very slight influence upon the hosts actions.

Stage three: This is the stage where most hosts are discovered and begin to be hunted. They gain inhuman physical ability, and now have powers, able to manipulate or change their bodies in monstrous ways. The Mutation can now speak clearly to the host, and can take temporary control of parts of the host in times of emegency.

Stage four: This stage grants the host enough strength to lift cars, likewise in other aspects, and now the host can have complete control of their body in unnatural ways, shapeshifting, or turning into poisonus gas, and other things. Mutations now have control, able to take over one part of the body and use it without resistance.

Stage five: The highest stage known so far, the Mutation has complete control of the body, complete control of the mind, and grants its new body with ultimate ability, able to change in any way it wishes.

Stage transfer rate: The stages pass between eachother unnoticed, simply manifesting at times with unrecordable rates of change. The only indictation to stage transferring is the power of the Mutation in the mind and body.

Nickname: Hellfinger by some of his freinds

Mutation effects: Increased physical ability
Personality: He's a nice guy mostly, a bit mean sometimes and has a tendancy to make sarcastic remarks. He is overall nice, but sometimes seems a bit sadistic, and usually finds it hard to forgive people.
Mutation personality: Has the usual outlook, but is fairly curious and tends to try and convince Kohta to check things out. A bit nicer but still has no problem killing.

History: He grew up a fairly normal life, although he always felt out of place. When he was thirteen his parents moved back to america and he spent considerable time adjusting, forcing him to repeat a grade. He held this in resentment and for a time became somewhat of a delinquent, breaking and stealing things from the school. Eventually he got over it and continued life as normal. He first suspected he had the Mutation when he was nineteen and he was able to easily lift large bags that had had him straining and gasping for breath the day before. He finally confirmed it when he began to see the ghostly image of his Mutation and hear it telling him to look around at a nearby crowd. He was horrified, but he kept his cool and went through his life hoping it wouldn't go to any further stages.

Mutation effects: None. But Erik shows signs of sonic and hypnosis ability, so he might catch on fast from his Mutation.

Personality: Erik is gentle and kind, a natural leader by heart. Sometimes he is stubborn but that is because he has a lot of know-how and is a very confident person, not quite bold but brave. Erik likes to hone his skills and use his thinking skills by practicing writing small books and novels.

Mutation personality: Sloth is a very hot headed person, somewhat like Erik, very soft centered and stubborn. He is very persuasive and bossy but He often keeps Erik out of trouble, operating in a concealed from. sloth chooses to work alone rather than with other mutations and takes care of his host.

Appearance: Erik has a soft shade of brown, short hair. His eyes are a dark green, hidden and mysterious but still very friendly. He is very toned but not thin at all, almost a football type of a muscular build. Erik is also often told that he has chisled features and often people ask to sketch Him.

Mental representation of Mutation:

History: Erik grew up in a supportive family. His younger sister was always looking up at him and his older brother went away quickly for a college and hardly saw Erik, but still talked to him constantly. His parents were also always there for him. Eventually Erik graduated high school with excellent grades and made it into A & M college in Texas. He majored in Journalism and took up a job as a reporter to earn money till he rolled out his first novel and his writing profession could earn him enough money to live on. A small time adult and teen novelist, Erik thought his life was on a good path. A few days after graduating college, Erik noticed differences in his everyday activities. Erik could suddenly run harder when he played football with his friends on the weekends and always took them down with the small tackle or nudge. He also noticed that he was less stressful and could practice his writing much more without getting tired or strained. His eyesight improved and he seemed renewed altogether. A few weeks later, Erik suddenly changed. He hanged out with his friends less and focused on writing. Some strange forced him to go on each day. And when he went outside his house each day he often blacked out and saw things. Strange whispers clouded his head and soon he lost contact with most of his friends. Four months after college, Erik had written 12 novels and published 4. And soon after he began publishing books, the media tried to interview him. Rather spending his time alone, Erik concealed himself even more and saw that whenever he went outside, people watched him. The government. even times Mutation patrol would stroll through his neighborhood. Silently realizing what was going on, Erik seeked help from others.

Mutation effects: Lilith has the special power of Disintegration on touch as well as the power to Regenerate herself and others through touch. Mixed with her immense strength her Disintegration powers are multiplied.

Personality: Lilith is a lone-wolf who likes to keep to herself. She knows that getting caught up in groups just leads to being found by the hunters. Her fear of the government has made her cold and dangerous to people who ask too many questions. She won't hesitate to kill someone who might out her.

Mutation personality: Gluttony has the need to feed and destroy. Lilith's disintegration powers are used to feed Gluttony's hunger. Gluttony is usually calm most of the time but occasionally has outbursts of rage that can overpower Lilith and cause her to do terrible involuntary things.

History: Lilith grew up with her grandmother as an only child. She lost her parents at an early age and this loss really destroyed her on the inside. Since a young age she has known loneliness well and has become used to it choosing to be alone over being around too many people. Lilith discovered her mutation a few years ago after her disintegration power involuntarily manifested and she accidentally killed her grandmother. Ever since the accident she has felt like a murderer never able to forgive herself. Her fear of being captured constantly motivates her to stay on the run only staying in any certain place for a few weeks at a time. Gluttony has become like the second voice in her mind mirroring her conscious. His effect on her choices and actions slowly grow in power as her mutation grows.

Krazy kid: You're accepted, but because you're still in stage one, no sonic or hypnotic powers yet. Also, due to your histroy, your character can advance to stage two early on, cause it indictates many signs of stage two.

Grotesque: Accepted, but no instant disintegration of the entire body on touch. okay?

Future note: The Mutations don't HAVE to look all demonic and evil, just in case anyone thought that.

OOC: Okay cool, I'll advance in my first few posts. And my Mutation is kind like my hypnotic future powers. Sometimes he'll use illusions just to look like a normal person in my mind but some times Erik can break through the barrier and see him for who he really is

Mutation effects: Skull has almost entirely been covered in crystals. he has large razor sharp crystal claws and can shoot crystal shards from his hands. he can also make crystal spikes appear anywhere on his body. he stays in this form most of the time because the mutation affected his brain a long time ago.
Personality: Skull is empty. he seems like a hollow shell. he does not care for the lives of any one around him
Mutation personality: Skull is even worse then he has made his host to be. he goes as far as to stalk people down and kill them violently and harshly
Appearance: His shirt is tattered torn and gray. he has jeans on that are ripped in a few places. his is covered in the crystal armor only half of his face can be seen. he has bright blue eyes and shiny blond hair. he would be very good looking if his face was not twisted with anger.
Mental representation of Mutation: the mutation is hunched over and completely crystal. spikes jut from its back. its face is a contorted mesh of crystal. it has a mouth full of jagged teeth and a two red glows were the eyes would be. its feet have three bid sharp blades as do Skulls now.
History: When Skull had yet to be changed he was a young handsome man. he impressed the girls with his strength and looks. then he started to mutate. he bones became crystal, and some crystal started to come out to his skin along his back bone and on his knee. the strength went to his head. the mutation fed off of his desire. then one night it finally struck his head. When his girlfriend asked him what was wrong he said. "nothing at all pretty little thing. But one thing don't call me that call me Skull" he turned around to her and half of his face was covered. the other half had a horrible smile. then he killed her. after that he ran and has been doing so since. he is wanted every where he goes. his face is well known.

Kohta looked outside. Dog(his mutation) was sitting on his shoulder, talking to him in his strangly normal sounding voice. "Who do you think those people are? Think they're looking for me?" Kohta knew he didn't have to answer outloud, but it made him feel better, like Dog wasn't in his head but a independant entity. "It's probably just some guy that got lost." Dog laughed. "Do you really think a bunch of guys in suits would just 'get lost'?" Kohta closed his eyes. He knew they hadn't just gotten lost, he knew they weren't just random people. He could tell by the way they intently stared at every building in the neighborhood, but their eyes always returned to his home. "Ahh, denying it, I'll be so glad when I can dig further into your head, less puzzles to solve, less you'll hide from me."

Kohta finally turned to the small creature, moving but Dog kept his balance perfectly, after all, it wasn't real. "Just shut up, I've been going for two years without you hitting another stage, and I plan on going a lot longer!" Dog gave another laugh, then hopped off, landing with a thud only hearable to Kohta as his size increased to that of a large dog. Kohta looked back outside as Dog went through the open door, dissappearing from sight until it came to the front of the lawn. It stood on its hind legs and gave a wave as it went off to explore in what Kohta could see with more detail than from his shoulder. Kohta pulled away from the window, then began to make something to eat.

Outside he heard a loud bang and wondered if maybe the soldiers had been looking for someone else. He now heard shouting, more bangs, and he almost confirmed it, but then he heard a much louder bang and Dog ran in, followed by several men with guns. "Freeze, on the ground, don't make a damned move or I shoot!"

Personality: he is fun and always interested, he is usually finding out more about mutations so he can actually befriend them. he is really sceptical and appauled at the people who kill and hunt them down. he just wants to try and get them under control
Appearance:


History: As he was a small child he always was interested in people with mutations, he was kind of intrigued by how much they excelled in their athletic abilities, and then one day suddenly would snap. He always started to get closer with people he could pick out of the normal crowd, and the ones he would believe had mutations, eventually, he started to pinpoint them better, but never got close enough to one until he was 12. When he was twelve he had a very close friend of his who was able to control his own powers up until the fourth stage, which was the one he was at. The kid started to develop more and more athletic abilities and then suddenly, when they were playing went to the fifth stage and then turned into his mutation. It beat him to the ground, and took out his eye, and left a large scar across his face. Since then hes been trying to help people with mutations, especially after that event. Hes gotten better and better at pinpointing mutations. He has become a part of the government where he was able to make a large sum of money and then suddenly quit. Since he quit he was able to make a weapon of his own, a large hammer than helps him fight, and cleanse mutations. It targets the mutation gene and then turns the human to stage two, giving the mutations almost no control, and the humans most control, but for a very very short time, (about an hour). He can also use his hammer in hand to hand combat, killing government lackeys.

(Ahhh...I'm somewhat hesitant on accepting your character...how about it throws them down to stage two? Also, It seems a bit implausable for him to be able to make a hammer that can temporarily "cure" the hosts without the governments help...)
