Hey guys
i just got back my PC with XP two days ago and reinstalled everything frm earlier, including avast my brother downloaded some torrents no problem i put the laptop screen down for the night and dont turn it on till like 7 pm then next day Now,i look into avast registry and about 60 viruses were blocked, all to WIn32(dont know if that has affecct on problem) to drivers files etc. Also,my search engine was magically changed to Ask.com and my homepage was changed to iamwired.com...wtf my brother had downloaded tune up utilities, and it had found 5 problems,2 being that my network access was basically opened to the region which could bring in hackers so it made me think that there were Please Snowbunnz or anyone help me.. All i am asking is for this virus to get out of my PC but also i dont want my PC to get wiped, because it was wiped like last week so yeah Safe but good,Thanks Edit:When i first turn on my PC first thing i see is firefox.exe and antivir.exe not responding, send error report or not and also my taskbar doenst work until about 10 minutes after i have restarted many times so i know it keeps happening Last edited by matey; 05-12-2010 at 08:36 PM. |

Use multiple virus- and malwarescanners (preferably paid ones, use trial if you don't want to pay or *cough*) to make sure everything has been detected and removed. Also, if you have a rootkit, I'd advice to go to Geeks To Go or a similar site, because those are and will be a serious pain in the *** to remove. The most simple thing to do would be formatting though.

Run the windows setup, format everything. Pull all cables out of your PC so there is no power in your system at all, wait 5 mins, boot up, format, again the cables with the waiting and you can proceed with the installation.

There is a button on your keyboard that says 'Prt Scr'. Press it and paste it in paint. Save the image and upload it to http://imageshack.us and post the link here.
It should normally be enough for the casual user, though kaspersky and nod32 have a higher detection rate than the rest for the moment.
