Still learning the ropes
|
![]() Looks pretty good. I made an MMO but I lagged like crazy, and it wasn't run on a server lol From my experience on MMOs and PC RPGs, I can tell you (or any aspiring PC Game Developers) this... Buy a high end computer, buy a server or hook up to an ultra fast network (like Comcast business class for example). Start small with only a few servers (one to host the game, one to test the game, one to play the game, and one for maintaining the game). Of course you will need people to join this small business of yours. A lot of work and money goes into making an MMO or a PC Game. If coding in c++ or Visual Basic or both, your looking to spend a lot of money. Also, think about today's generation. Kids of 1980 may like the classics of then, but brought into the generation of now. Take Donkey Kong of 1980s for example, and look at it now. Whereas kids of the now who were born in late 1990s may not like the classics brought back to now. If they do like the classics brought back into the now, then they would want to relate it to today's modern technology. Bringing in 2D graphics in a 3D ready world, might turn off today's next-gen. Keep all that in mind, and keep forming new ideas and updates and your MMO or PC game will no doubt succeed. On a side-note relating more the OT... I like writing dialog even though i have bad grammar and bad punctuation. (Most likely a reason people stopped playing my games). If requested I can provide you with a demo of my game i made way back in the early 90s, it looks a lot like the graphics of what you are proposing. Thanks much for reading my WOT. xD

you seem motivated and capable so it looks like this game is promising. but have you considered making it isometric? or 2.5D as they call it? might give it more of a 3D feel and deviate from the classic look in a good way
