So for my friends bday we got him a ps2 just so he could catch up on all the awesome games for days gone by. i loaned him my final fantasy 9 but he doesnt have a playstation memory card... his new roommate has a ps3 so he can play it and save but when he leaves he doesnt want to lose his game save...
i have an old ps2 with an hdd (yea i was the few and proud playing FFXI on ps2...) and i was wondering if i could have him play on his roommates ps3 then put my ps2 hdd in his room mates ps3 so he can copy his FFIX save on to my hard drive and then eventualy copy that on to a playstation memory card when he gets ones. so in short can i put a ps2 hdd in a ps3 and copy ps1 data on to it or does he just have to suck it up and hold off till he gets a ps1 mem card

I believe the very old PS3's were able to play previous console games.
I think the whole save process can be worked out but it seems like to much work. From my knowledge you could transfer the file from the PS3 to a computer and from there go to the mem card. But I would think you would need a special cable for that. Unless the PS1 mem card can be put into a PS3. I would hold off until getting the mem card if it will take to long for him to get one. If he plays to much and gets far into it, he will not wanna restart. |

hm i can save on my ps2 wit ps1 games..dunno the config anymore. You need to set something in the options. I have all playstation versions (1,2,3) but i like it to play the old games on the older systems.
Your way is a little bit complicated in my opinion. Search with google how you can save with ps2 -ps1 games. Its not that hard (better than your idea^^)
