So, I'm planing to buy a new pc, the thing is I'm going to need to edit media and such, so I'm planning to buy a Hexacore PC. (will work better)
Will I be able to play games(from this time) with these specs too? if it is good eneugh, to last a few years.. (vcard/power more ram.. and such upgrades are no problem) AMD PHENOMII 1090T X6 SIX CORE (6x3.2Ghz) 4GB DDR3 geheugen ATI HD 5750 1024MB DDR5 Will it be sufficent to last a while? |

Is this one of them "my dicks bigger than you're dick because my computer is OBVIOUSLY better"? :P
Of course it will last you, Phenom's and indeed Quad Core processors are not even needed in this day and age as the games just don't touch the surface of there speed, so yes that will last you at least 2 years or until the next gen comes out. The RAM is fine the only improvement that could be made and I don't know if you can I would have to look at you're MOBO spec's but it might be able to support 8GB, which might be useful if you're on Vista and playing heavy games. The ATI HD 5750 1024MB DDR5 is a excellent card, if memory serves it won some sort of award for being one of the best high end budget cards, due to its small-ish price tag, I would say that within the next couple of years when next gen is released you might need to change it, but for that matter half the population will. But for MMORPG's/Aion and such it will burn them, and same for a lot of the HIGH end games in the current market. Quick side note: if you do intend to buy a Phenom, and you want to play stuff like WoW for example on it, you might want to look on the Internet for Quadcore support for WoW, as like I said most games in the current market are not actually supported by Quads. Hope this helps. |

It'll last for a while, though I'm not sure if it's going to be worth to go with a hexacore CPUs yet.
Also, I'm not completely certain on this, didn't hexacores completely support tripple-channel ram? (the i7 does, but isn't able to get everything out of it). The GPU is rather fine for the moment, unless you want to pay 200usd more for a 5850 with pretty much no real FPS gain at higher resolutions.

Thanks, no I don't mean to brag about it.. or anything.
The thing is for what I'm gonna do with it (collage wise and job wise) hexacore already has an edge in that.. (photoshop layers, graphic design, media editing).. Since it is .. something differend I was afraid that it would suck on games,.. that's why I asked. Thanks for all the feedback, I love it! Looking forward to reading more feedback ![]() and the thing is.. I probably use it for the next.. few years(been using this old p4 for about 8.. and now it's really sucky..) I hope to last 3 or perhaps even 5.. or so.. upgrading ram/v-card.. will make it last a bit more right? Last edited by hyarume; 06-17-2010 at 11:43 AM. |

It still doesn't have an advantage in gaming yet though. And about upgrading, don't worry. As long you'll get a 64bit OS you'll be set for a long time, unless they release the upgrade from PCIe soon.

Ah that's good to hear.
As for gaming, if it just runs games of this time good eneugh, and it'll last a while running games on good avarage (preffered high tho) quality I'm fine with it all. Oh and hexacore is still dual channel ram.. is that bad? Last edited by hyarume; 06-17-2010 at 05:01 PM. Reason: -=Doublepost=- |
