Why a 6 core processor and a budget graphics card?

All you should need is a dual core (maybe a quad core if you are editing movie montages a lot), and 8 GB is overkill, you'd hardly ever even use 4.. waste of money if you just wanted it for gaming. Still overkill even for any sort of editing, honestly. Could've spent all that money on something more beneficial and a lot of good cooling.

Then again your parents probably bought it all for you.

Hyarume is actually being smart here, buying the budget cards are a must since the holidays are coming up and new video cards are almost there. Buying a 5800/5900 series are kinda a waste of money for now , unless you want the best performance on current games like metro 2033 . Then go for it.

I'm also getting a 5750, my cousins have it and it's a blast. It can play crysis on a decent frame rate on all high, and plays starcraft with no sweat. Also My cousin used a powercolour HD 5750, which doesn't even need a pci-e connector to the PSU. Which is awesome if you want to save ur electricity bill =D. (well 5770 is still a budget card, but do require a pci connector)

Eh, yeah, maybe you're right, but all he does is play Final Fantasy so I assumed he updated his rig for 14. It IS a bit unoptimized right now and requires a high performance rig to look nice, but I'm sure they will have it all fixed for release. I just didn't understand why he would go so overkill on one part of the computer and bottleneck another. Judging from his link earlier (which I previously missed), he wants it for Photoshop. Photoshop doesn't require THAT much processing power. In fact, the only reason it needs any is just to speed up effect rendering time, but it's not like they take that long.. I'd understand if he was going into a job for editing high definition videos, but, well, he isn't. I think he is still in high school? By the time he would put that to use, his computer will be outdated and the parts he is using now would have gone down VASTLY in price.

But, whatever floats his boat I guess.

Lol i heard that even the best computer still get some hitches from that game, but it's Beta i can't blame them. I just hope i won't be needing 58xx series to play that game.
