http://tf2.com/post.php?id=3963&p=1
and http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=1302587 Basically they're bringing back the 6v9 format tonight where they pit six of the top "pro" Team Fortress 2 players against nine random "pub-stars" (and I use that term especially loosely) who are playing in highlander (1 per class) format. There is going to be a Source TV up to watch it, people will be recording it, and there is a Mumble server where two funny, yet extremely annoying, TF2 competitive players will be shoutcasting the match. Anyone going to be watching? I personally think it's hilarious reading the Steam forums thread and seeing people go "I'm pretty good at soldier, I will do it for the pubbers!". When truth be told, all of those "pub-stars" seem pretty horrible. They think they're good because they have 800 hours of pyro or can compete on TF2 Lobby lol. Just going to be funny to watch because the pros are going to joke around so it'll be fairly close. I would much rather them pick actual pub-stars than random people who signed up first. Oh well, should be entertaining. |

Well, who are actual 'pub stars'? How would you define them?
Maybe if they had a system where people could freely vote for anyone and they managed to compile all the data, they could find real stars, but other than that, how are you going to get recognised as a star unless you play competitively?

Little bit more difficult, but you could also just have people be nominated from the most popular public servers. I know a lot of my friends are pub-stars, but they all have they respective servers. Some stay on EGO servers, some go on custom map servers, some go on The Ville, etc. So many better ways to at least guarantee DECENT players rather than just random sign-ups. Even posting scoreboards from pubs (the one in game info that shows the time of play and the kills), or something as simple as that. I think the easiest way is choose 9 of the most popular public servers, and gather the best player in terms of HLStatsX from each server. That way the players are active and have a good KDR at least. idk, the random sign-up method and using hours just seems lazy and capable of producing an incredibly poor quality match even if the other team off-classes. So that basically explains the last paragraph, second to last meant: Just because you have a lot of hours as a pyro, doesn't mean you're good. Just because you can compete on TF2Lobby, doesn't mean you're good (It's a TF2 pugging website, most people take it as a joke. I can top-frag as an airblasting pyro in those games a lot of the time). And I meant they'd joke around by off-classing, going spy and stuff just for laughs. |

The games will most likely be determined by how good the pub-stars' team will be.
As for the rest, the Scout, unless very good, will die rather quickly to the 2 Scouts which will leave the demo open to flanks. The Heavy will get spammed a lot and the Pyro will probably get tore to shred. |
