I have been given the entire WoW set and in the process of installing it. I am completely new to WoW or any of Blizzard's products.

Basically, i want to be pointed in the right direct. Tips for beginners and such. Help me choose a race/class (i like DPS)

First you have to figure out Horde or Alliance

then the two best DPSers imo are Mages and Locks but Paladins have heals and hunters could kite

Hunters are the easiest for leveling, Paladins are the best

your choice,btw EU or NA?

I think its how you build your character... there isnt highest DPS class... Shamans do lot of dmg, warriors do too, rogues, mages every class!! If you chose right gear+ talants... Priests can do lot of dps...
But i hear that in every pach there is one class that is buffed the moust and then they try to fix it with oter and buff other one.

Personaly i like shamans- Enhancement Shamans + 2hander.. right gear with windfury crazy cryts can be 17 k in 1 hit
but again, it all depents on gear and talants u own.!

Its more what u like.. Up close and personal or range snipe.

Indeed but shamans are a pain to level, they cant handle more than two opponents at a time but they can play either a healer or DPS role which makes getting into a group much easier

I love in NA.

Right now, im interested in either a rogue or a hunter.

What are you opinions on these two for a beginner as well as pvp/pve.

The first thing about starting WoW (like brand new) is get a buddy. Most likely someone u know in real life plays it (some may be in denial) but The reason I say this is because the 3x exp will make azeroth cake, and azeroth is boring as hell if you do it normally.
Second, currently i would say the class with smallest learning curve is Pally or mage, but I know pally is getting a major makeover in cataclysm.

As for race, if you like pvping, Gnomes and undead respectively are great because you can save your trinket slot by using your racial. If you want to PvE raids and stuff, all races have fairly useful racials.

If you have more question, let me know. Also if you want to get that 3x exp, let me know (Disclaimer, yes i benefit from 3x also, and if you sub, i get 1 month free, I will actually reimburse you for that month if you care cuz I don't really care about the free month thing. Lastly I also get a cool rocket mount woopee)

I haven't played in a while, but if I remember Paladins were seriously OP.

There are no best dpsers, but there are different skill set for each class. And Mages and Paladins are the easiest to learn to maintain solid Dps

They stilll are ,just bubble and they are pretty safe

Hunter is the easiest class to level,they got pets and can kite pretty well and good DPS too

Rogeus are nice with their stuns and good DPS depends on your play style
