Well as for the differences, brands use different parts. For example, HP, uses Asus motherboards, while Dell, probably uses Intel motherboards or a generic brand. HP may use Infineon(a popular generic brand), while Dell may use Samsung RAM. And so on, these differences alone can determine how much better the laptop is, but is often overlooked, because they generally either have no branding on the parts, or they put a sticker over the OEM sticker. But Alienware, overpriced in laptops, not so much, they may be a bit more expensive, but they have better cooling, well on the modern models at least. Plus, you can send it back to upgrade it, assuming they have the parts in stock.

The only thing that matters is the build of the individual laptop, not the brand.
The brand does matter for customer service, but that varies extremely for the respective service area. They are not like car brands, important parts like the screen are ordered from different manufacturers with even different specs for diffrent charges of the same laptop; You can't really put a finger on anything aside from settling for a good build considering the frame and the hardware specs you want. Everything else is just as important as interpreting cloud forms and birds flying to predict if you will be happy with it or not; Mainly people believe in that crap because they either are stubborn even if the screwd up their purchase decision or, because they create self fulfilling prophecies. |

laptops are horrible, it gets extremely hot because it doesn't support coolers so it's hard to keep it cool. i suggest buying a desktop pc with a lcd monitor instead.

Actually they do know it. It's sadly true. Fujitsu siemens stuff aren't exactly known as a fast and reliable system. They are cheap and good for simple things like microsoft office.

How did they find that out? By a benchmark? Comparing completely random systems? Giving out a fazit by comparing them to a bloody barebone? Have they lost it? If a car mag would print an review, saying that Toyota cars are 300% faster or 300% more efficient, than cars from Honda, would you believe that too? |

If they never specify the model and year, it could mean anything. Hell, they could compare a modern hybrid from Toyota with a 1960s Honda.
