He was in there for hours and hours. He didn't kill anyone, but he had hostages.
Rather than risk innocent peoples lives, they took him out. If the standoff didn't last like 6 hours, maybe they wouldn't have killed him. But, it was going nowhere and they got a clean shot. Did the right thing IMO. |

I actually live in Silver Spring, Maryland. About 15 minutes from Downtown (where the Discovery Building is). And what's weird is I actually met the guy a couple of years ago. It was at Borders Books which was about a 2 minute walk from the Discovery Building itself. My friends knew who he was because they met him through another friend who just randomly bumped into him.
He was a strange man to begin with (obvious due to the shooting). He told us to read this book (which I forgot the title of) and he told us if we read the book he would ask us a series of questions and he would give us 200 dollars if we answered them correctly. I don't remember the name of the book because I didn't read it. It was about a man who was able to talk telepathically with a bear or something...and they would go on these adventures and try to save the wilderness. Anyways, I didn't believe him but my friends who actually read the book answered his questions and were paid 200 dollars. He was originally from San Diego, California from what I remember...and came to Maryland like...3 years ago or so. He didn't say anything about hostages or gunning down the building, but he just seemed like just one of those guys whom you would look at and just ignore him because he was the weird guy. He actually did some sort of protest at the Discovery building 2 years ago, where he snuck into the building, got on the 2nd floor and started pouring thousands and thousands of dollars from the window onto the street. It caused a scene and the police came and broke up the scene because people were flooding to pick up the money obviously. He said he did it to have people pay attention to his cause. He was then sent back to San Diego on probation for 2 years. And then he comes back and.... ...Well...this happens. Strange, huh? Last edited by KREVA; 09-03-2010 at 02:33 AM. |
