After watching many animes, I my self have com to the conclusion that, even though the story is important in all, if the characters are well made, and have even development to them it can overshadow a bad story.
hitman reborn reborn is am example of a good story with horrible characters. Durarara!! has good characters with even a pretty good story but due to trying to get people hooked seems to have forgotten its main focus of the story at times which made it abit dull from randomness at the beginning. |

Anime forces character depth on you ussualy even if the person is just gonna die in the next episode.
I always figured main character depth was part of the story line. Cant have a story without a reason, characters depth ussualy explains the reason. |
