Default Anyone of you had ear problems?

3 days ago my ears started to hear fluids (just as if i blocked my ears or had alot of water in it, but i never dare fill my ears with water..)

Quote:
thick pus-filled or bloody drainage from the ear canal that started after a sharp, sudden pain.
i also started to hear my heart beat and felt pain as if my ear was going to explode. i withstood the pain for a day expecting it to go away in a day or two but the second day... the pain got worst making my ears swollen..

so i hear fluid in my ear, and feel pressure or stuffiness that can't be cleared with coughing, yawning or swallowing, but don't have cold or flu symptoms..

Quote:
ear discomfort may be caused by a BLOCKED EUSTACHIAN TUBE. Colds and the flu often lead to this condition. so this also means you could still have the problem without being in one of those two conditions?
my mother was blaming my fan when i haven't turned it on for three days, all of this started because i leaned towards the dog for his collar so i could take him out for a walk, his ears used to be rotten/smelly all the time so we had to see the vet every now and then. I'm never buying a dog with long ears EVER.

i put some ethanol alcohol for disinfection on my cotton swab so the infection would go away on the first day i felt this sensation but it only made it itchy
and uncomfortable, i was suggested to chew gum and drink alot of water but nothing solved my problem.

a friend told me to use a ice pack to lessen the pain and it did work out pretty well but after the next day i couldn't hear anything excluding my heart beat and other sounds in my body (teeth for an example.)

today i woke up early and got ready to visit the hospital for my examination..
i had a bad feeling about my results, i had to wait 40 minutes for the hospital to open because i went to early.. i couldn't wait any longer!!

i feel ripped off having to pay 25 dollars for a simple examination and a little water / cotton swab cleaning which didn't take longer than a minute. most of the cost was for those needle shots, after all of that i had to use this heat device for a minute, it looked like a phone and had red light when it was activated. it felt warm and a little comfortable but i still heard heart beats and was told that they needed to cut off the swollen part which isn't my skin. it's like a enlarged pimple..

i then headed to the drug store and buy my medicine seperately which made me use 25 dollars total, not to mention i don't have a job yet!! QQ

i'm more worried about needing more money for that surgery to remove that pimple in my ear.. some people said it disappeared without needing to cut it, so i'm not sure if it's really that necessary

my mother also told me not to eat too much medicine because it's unhealthy for you and can result memory loss or decrease your intelligence. I think its true and want to stay away from the medicine, because i see alot of crazy people i want to avoid that is addicted to drugs.

edit: this seems to be it, i had pus blocking my middle ear causing severe pain and the blockage disabled my hearing.. ;-;

Quote:
Acute Suppurative Otitis Media
In the presence of an upper respiratory infection, such as a cold, tonsillitis or sinusitis, fluid in the middle ear may become infected. This results in what is commonly called an abscessed ear or an infected ear or Acute Suppurative Otitis Media. This infected fluid (pus) in the middle ear may cause severe pain. If examination reveals that there is considerable ear pressure, a myringotomy (incision of the eardrum membrane) may be necessary to relieve the abscess, and the pain. In many cases antibiotic treatment will suffice.

Good luck with recovery. The worst problem I've had with my ears was very minor barotrauma from not being able to equalize my ears while snorkeling. Even though it lasted for about a day, it sucked hard.

People take hearing for granted.

Only issue I have is partial hearing loss from the few years I worked operating a web press for a print company in town.

You're starting to hear everything but very loudly, your heartbeat, even the water running through your body. You're evolving into a super hero.
I had to say that, sorry.

but seriously, it's happened to me before. My ear one night popped and then I woke up the next morning and I heard literally EVERYTHING. I heard my parents talking from the kitchen, I heard the furnace, I even heard the silent wind. Then my ear felt a sudden pain and it was unbearable, every time I burped I'd go through a sharp pain that lasted for 5 seconds or so. All I did was get my parents to buy me some pills, I don't really know what they were because I didn't buy them, but just ask for some pills for ear pains. They cost about 80 dollars and your ear should stop hurting within a few hours, take the pills daily and it'll all feel better. It's happened to me about 8 times in my lifetime. Ear drops or pills will most likely solve the problem.

Hope you feel better.

its an ear infection, its like a giant pimple in your ear.
do not dig your ears or put water in your ears, it will cause the skin to crack or something and it will hurt really bad

Just do what the doctor tells you to. Nobody here is a doctor. Your mother isn't a doctor either. If your parents are Chinese like mine, they're always quick to blame any illness you have on something they don't like about you ("Ohhh you got sick because you drink/eat/playvideogames too much!!)

Yeah, NEVER itch your ear when you have an ear infection, it hurts really bad.

You don't know that.
Some of us have experienced the same thing that she has and got it treated therefore we know how it is and we tell her what we did to cure it.

Sounds serious. But i have no experience with these things at all.

I only exp my ears clogging up sometimes after jogging or something like that. and my right ear is sensitive. as in i cant use that ear to listen to something for too long or i start getting these 'earaches'.
