I bet everyone has encountered this but I will ask anyway.
Has anyone finished tearing through a book in a day or two only to want more after finishing it, and feeling bad for reading through it so fast? I just finished the first book in a new series, book was called the Black Prism. I finished the over 600 page book in about two days and it ended at such a climactic point that you are left wanting to know more. It's like playing a video game and finally getting immersed in it only to find yourself at the end cutting it off right before you get to the best part. I know an Author usually does this in a book series to keep readers interested and wanting to buy the next book, but it's quite annyoing when you have to wait a year or more for the next release and then forget everything and have read the first book again. So what are your experiences. If you are going to give spoilers please use the spoiler filter. |

Ah I am waiting to read that book for another week or so. I however generally read on the train going into and out of work so it will take me a while to finish. At least I know it was good enough that you read it so fast.
I did the exact same thing with the second book in his first series . But luckily for me the third one had just come out a month before I started reading them.

Pretty much every series of books I've ever read, but then I easily get into stories. Besides, I have an obsession with completion. If I don't complete a story, I go insane wondering how it ends, no matter how crappy the story is. I litterally can't break loose.
Black prism by Brent Weeks who did the Night Angel trilogy right? A similar story is Tales of The Otori by Lian Hearn. I'd recommend it. The Sword of Truth series also kept me reading non-stop for ages. But, the one book I felt worst about reading too fast was Clouds of Sparrows by Takeshi Matsuoka, simply because it's probably my all-time favourite book, and it's pretty short as well. Usually I'm the type who likes to re-read my books to get as much as possible out of it seeing as I pretty much rush through things the first time. Cloud of Sparrows on the other hand, is just hard to re-read if you already know the ending. |

That is why I read 4 or 5 books at once and spread them out so I am never looking for something else. Took me awhile to get the point where I could follow so many at once, but it is definitely worth working towards if you are sick of burning through books too fast.
Think of them like tv series, you usually don't watch one at a time. |

Necronomicon (a collection of Lovecraft stories), I read the first story, Dagon around noon, then spent the whole night reading the rest of the book (650 pages).
Each time I read another Lovecraft book I bought (it's really hard to find those) like theThe strange case of Charles Dexter Ward, At the mountains of madness, and an another book of Lovecraft's stories I finished them in one sitting and wanted more. After finishing the book "Koreni" (Roots in english) for a school assignment, which was pretty short, I really wanted to read "Vreme Smrti" ( time of death), a collection of 4 books that continues on the story in Koreni. Because I had graduation tests and all other crap to take care of I couldn't read Vreme Smrti, I just started it a couple of weeks ago since I have nothing else to do. I'm gonna finish the 4th book in a few days, just peeked at the end of the book, and it seems that the story still isn't gonna end which means I'm gonna have to read "Vreme Zla" (time of evil, 3 books), to complete the stories off all the characters that appear in Koreni and Vreme Smrti.
