I bought guild wars a long time ago and I quit playing for a while but now, I wanted to restart again and since factions came out, will there still be a lot of people playing the original or is it all connected?

youll have to buy factions to play on the factions side of the story
but i think everything else is the same im not really sure about that

You aren't able to play the Factions campaign, nor can you play the new classes. However, when you do matches against different people, you will be able to communicate with Factions members and the new classes. Both can interact with each in the arena, but cannot do missions with each other.

this basicly sums it up :

with factions, u can use asssassain and ritulist and play in cathana, without it you...well...cant

i would sugest buying it though

So wrong you are! if u have both games characters can be transffered between the gams and they CAN do the missions and quests together! your prophocies characters can go to factions and do the storyline and ur faction characters can go to prophocies and do the missions there.
