Ok, so I'm having trouble rolling a character. I want to focus on guns for sure... but I'm torn between science, lockpicking, bartering, repair(which I know is REALLY useful), and survival.... wat do?

Basically I wanna be a bad *** gunman who is good at one or two of the above mentioned things.

At max level with all skill books i managed to max only 3 skills due to my lack of intelligence points, but i managed to get the rest up a bit, I use a brush gun with Ncr Ranger armour, the skills i maxed were Guns, Science and Speech. Speech was by far my most useful skill, i dont think guns actually affects you as much as in fo3, but speech got me past MANY hard or tedious quests/encounters.

Just a thought.

There are plenty of hacks and even physical modifications to controllers for our good ol xbox.

do u skip sidequests sometimes with speech in NV like u did in fallout 3, or does it only makes things easier/more fun like npcs helping u in the first town fight? if u actually skip quests i wouldnt go for it but if its all like that first-town-fight-kinda-helpfull ill build my speech some more :P

to Rude_Boy: i tagged guns, lockpicking and repair also. i wouldnt worry too much about how to skillup and just take that what u need for quests and put the leftovers in what u want most. like for the first town u gonna need a bit of barter, a bit of explosives and some speech to get everyone involved in a quest but those magazines u find for temp skillboosts and mentats can help with that

Afaik in FO3 Science helped me a lot. Often found some nice stuff after hacking computers and some defense mechanisms.

yeah i usually hacked a pc linked to a safe, then NOT pick 'unlock safe button' just to picklock the safe for the double xp lol. strangely ive only found like 1 hackable pc in NV so far though but might be because im not far yet and not play much.

Most of the time its gaining more rewards or making things easier but some of the more tedious 'quests' ie go here, pick up this, come back can be skipped.
