Default I'm looking for some real nerdy books to read.

Fantasy. With real mature situtations. Lots of action. Written within the decade or so, I have trouble getting into books written 30 years ago.

I'll keep it simple, just give me some of the books you've read similar to what Im looking for and that you enjoyed, and I'll rep whore you. Even if its not within my interests.

Hey thanks guys.

Anything by Anne McCaffrey especially the Dragon Riders of Pern series.

(All fantasy series btw)
The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. It's pretty long so it'll keep you going for a while.
Pretty dark and gretty, with plenty of mature material.

Also Brent Weeks, The Night Angel Trilogy.
Like Sword of Truth, quite dark and gretty, and gets pretty graphic at times.

A classic is The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Not as dark as the others, but plenty of pretty extreme action.
True fans will probably be afronted by this, but I consider this the Dragonball Z of fantasy books just for the share amount of over the top action in it.

I loved that series. It was great. I'll look into the others.

Well if you liked The Night Angel Trilogy, you might also like Tales of The Otori by Lian Hearn, which is basically almost the exact same thing, just set in fictional time and place in feudal Japan, following a young boy who becomes a Ninja. It's pretty good, and also pretty dramatic and graphic.

If you're going to try Wheel of time(I recommend Sword of Truth more though), I suggest you invest some time, and give it a chance beyond the first book. It starts off looking a lot like Lord of The Rings, but once it gets past the introduction with the second book, it really pics up the pace and gets more intense.

Definitely Wheel of Time.

As hian mentioned, the first book starts off like a LoTR clone. Then in the middle of book two (in a 14 book series!!) turns into its own incredible, awesome world.

It's not that dark, but it definitely has its dark moments. Whoever isn't creeped out by the variety and the evil of the various Darkfriends in it have got to be made out of steel. Also, the action is pretty awesome and memorable.
