I never use one but i got a virus or something so i thought i'd be good to have one.
I use windows 7 and i want an antivirus that doesnt drain on my cpu alot. what is an antivirus worth investing in / one you use?

I've done a lot of research into this in the past and I agree that Microsoft Security Essentials is the best in terms of protection and low reseource usage. Don't let the fact that it's from Microsoft fool you

Agreed. It's the first thing microsoft has done right in a long time. I use a combo of programs to keep my PC running smoothly though. Microsoft Security essentials is one of them along with SpyBot - S&D (TeaTimer disabled) and a regular run of CCleaner. Never once had any troubles.

i use kaspersky and i find it to be the best, even after trying microsoft security essentials i found kaspersky to be better yet using more resources
