I forgot about Guild Wars. It's buy to play but only costs like 10$ nowadays. There's no grind and a small level cap (20) and it follows a main story. You can even create a PvP character that starts at the level cap. The PvP is competitive and team oriented.

Then there's this quake-like shooter called Warsow. Its open source with great graphics. The game takes a LOT of skill.with movement and aim.

Lost saga didnt seem to be..too competitive when I played. No real leaders board or "Skill-cap" or "Build a team to be higher skilled than another" kind of aspect witch is something I'd like =/
Lost saga get's really team based once you figure out all the skill combos and get together with a good team.

Freestyle Street basketball it's very team based because it's a sports game. You play 2v2 and 3v3 games and level up by playing games. You can customize your character which is really fun and seperates you from the rest. There are some really wacky clothes

You start off by choosing between 3 positions... Center, Foward, and Guard. Once you make it to level 15, you get to choose to become more specific by choosing between Small Foward, Power Foward, Shooting Guard, and Point Guard.

Oh yeah, you can buy skills for your character too. Some people say that gamekiss is a bad publisher but from what I've seen I don't think so. They respond to my questions on e-mail within 24 hours. If you wanna play PM me, I'm level 18 SF, 26 PF, and 24 PG.

If ya got some guys playing with you already I'm suggesting Wolf Team for the Shooter part, makes fun with 2 or more friends, I dont know how it is when playing solo about finding a clan and stuff.... If you pay some more then defenitely Team Fortress 2 makes better in the shooter section ; )
And as I'm posting here I won't forget mentioning Global Agenda which has best part of the game really team based.
Next I'll mention Guild Wars, which is team based all over ^,^
If you are not for the competition part then I guess you can go with any of the MMO's out there for team-based PvE....
Well then the basic things, Leage of Legends, DotA... Well I'm mostly thinking of more shooter oriented games anyway ^.^

If it doesn't seem competitive then leveling should be easy. The pros only do faction battles and 1v1s.
Sometimes 2v2 even!
This is a fast way to level: Buy infantry + cowboy then spam boss raid
Once you get boss switch tao: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBA3bJTsjgo

This Origin guy is the person who taught me to play Fire Mage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pa-yDJ63Dqc

Or just get Shaman and either spam seduce or learn to infinite-combo (depending on which other heroes you have)...
I only got locked in an infinite combo now, but I am sure they are much more popular now that tae-kwon's trinket and maid's vacuum are released (and that was during the summer - not sure what else is new).
