Before posting, please read.
What I'm looking for is really simple - a persistent action mmorpg. 1. It must feature an open world that does not rely heavily on instances. 2. It must feature an action-orientated gameplay aspect, in other words, does not utilize point and click. Think like Dragon's Nest, Divine Souls, and Bloodline Champions. A few examples of MMORPGs like this are Mortal Online, Fallen Earth, and Darkfall, except they're free. And good. :P Thanks for reading.

I recommend World of Warcraft.
Tribonia and Final Fantasy are also options for you. Lord of the Rings Online... I do not play any of these games :P When I see you want an action game I think 'Lost Saga'. But sure - if you haven't played Dragon Nest, I'll pop you the English patch info. Good action games are Zone of the Enders and Dissidia (both 1-player).

World of Warcraft.... lol.
As for Dragon's Nest, yes I have personally played it. But it's not open world. And it seems all the games you recommended me are not as actiony as Dragon's Nest. WoW is particularly not actiony. Again, what I'm looking for is a persistent, action mmorpg. Or is there not currently one? Thanks for posting anyway.

I've already explained that in the first post? Must be an open-world - that means that everyone plays the same thing - there ARE no made-just-for-you instances. Ugh, how come no ones read the first post....
Persistent is where everyone plays the same thing, like what I've been saying.... no friggin' instances for separate players! Now if the MMORPG in particular had an action-orientated gameplay element, then we've got something here. NO point-and-click. WASD movement, third-person aim with your mouse for shooting projectiles etc. But must fit the open-world MMORPG category! ![]() This goes for anyone - and I know people will post these - If you're going to give me titles unrelated to what I'm asking, such as Vindictus (not a MMORPG) or Dungeons and Dragons Online (HEAVILY instanced), please save time and do not post. Thanks! I'm gonna put an example of a game that has all the elements I wanted - Fantasy Earth Zero. But it's not that appealing to me, unless there's a game overhaul. An upcoming game that has all these elements are KUF2 and Path of Exile. Oblivion is a prime example of what I am looking for, sadly singleplayer only. You can try S4 League or Gunz, but those aren't MMOs/"open world". Darkfall Quote:

If you are this picky, then... Love Quel Solaar Minecraft Dude - any action mmo is going to be lobby-based! Otherwise there are issues with lag. How is FEZ not instance-based? You literally need to form a party in order to start a PvP fight, and the only purpose of PvE is to farm chimeras! EVE, Black Prophecy, Ragnarok Online... Basically you want a game like WoW that is a FPS?? |

Yeah, action WOW MMOFPS. Thanks for the suggestions. And yeah, you're right. There's not much open-world action mmorpgs.
From what I see, Black Prophecy seems to be the most promising to what I want. It looks like a really nice Descent game fused into a MMORPG Last edited by pwnfacer; 11-28-2010 at 12:31 AM. |

I think I should have included the world in persistent. Because that is what I meant.
"A persistent world (PW) is a virtual world that continues to exist even after a user exits the world and that user-made changes to its state are, to some extent, permanent.[1][2] The term is frequently used in the definition of the massively multiplayer online video games and can be considered synonymous with that class of games,[3] including other narrative forms of a media franchise." -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persistent_world |
