Have any of you seen this yet?
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/14/te...gy/14game.html I think it will be a great opportunity for indie and hobbyist developers to get their products out to a wide audience. The only thing I DIDNT see though, was what kind of criteria, if any, completed games will have to have in order to be listed. Hopefully none. Its $99 a year, but thats less than a modern MMORPG account, so thats not THAT bad. What do you all think? |

I have read a similar article on this, however, the article does mention that it will cost a person $99 a year to use the translation software. However, the article does not mention that it will cost you extra if you plan to sell your game. (The article I read stated somewhere in the thousands)
So basically, people will be using this to sell their ideas for a game and potentially may not actually enter the market. But, a good go on Microsofts mark to get more attention on the 360, but I doubt it still won't grab the Japanese audiences attention.

I believe that you will be able to make and share games with other as long as they have the development environment too. Though you will have to share your source code because they will have to compile and then push the code to their own XBOX.
I can see people making open source games like this. |
