I'm getting this game for christmas most likely. I don't like how there isn't a free trial up front but I guess you can get keys for this? If so, does anyone have one? Thanks.

did you buy the game yet? if not then steam has a sale its 10$ for the game

Not yet. But once I buy it do I have to buy additional time or does some time come with the initial purchase?

But I dunno why anyone would want to play Aion, much less retail Aion.

What's wrong with it?

I bought it, time card coming in mail soon. Looks great. Nothing too original, but nice combat. Everything (instances pvp etc) seems above par for an MMO.

It's extremely grindy, the game filled with bots, combat is generic.

not so much grindy anymore, bots have gone down a lot, and the combat is not generic I actually enjoyed the game's combat when I played it

Having just quit the game after playing off and on for two years all I could say is try it. Yeah, it's got bots. Yeah, it's got pvp. And it has some of the finest graphics I've ever seen in any mmo.

PVP is tricky to find. The dev's have been tweaking homeland buffs in Heiron and Morehiem, and other places across the Aion lands so rifting is more difficult to survive for invaders.

There is a fan based site called www.aiontrial.co.uk they make a referral for you so that you can get a free demo of game. Currently it's only for EU servers though.
