Default Blue Screens and System Lock-ups.

I was greeted by multiple blue screens yesterday, all of which seemed to say different things, but I only got a picture of one of them.

I googled the file that failed, and it turned out to be my graphics card.

I seemed to of got rid of the blue screens for now, but instead have had a complete system lockup with nothing on-screen moving, and having to resort to just turning the power off.

I've not come across any issues like this before, but judging from the picture I got of the blue screen, could it possible be my graphics card failing, or would it be drivers for something etc?

If it is my graphics card, and I'm in need of buying a new one then what would people recommend for gaming at £100 tops?

System: GeForce 9600GT
AMD Phenom 9950 x4 - 2.6
4GB DDR2
650W CoolerMaster PSU

To Note: I re-installed graphics drivers twice and tried rolling them back to an older version, so I'm pretty sure it's not the drivers.
On another note: I've been getting a bit of frame lag lately in-game, whereas I never had any problems when I first bought the card.

well I don't know alot of BSOD, but if it keeps coming back, just get a new gfx card. I saw a hd5770 being sold for 100euro's these days, and your paying in pounds, you could easily buy that one. If you want to spend a bit less, I suggest getting a hd5570. I was really suprised when I used it. It has a solid fps on games that came out recently. It's a nice card for it's price (65euro).

You might want to check eventvwr on what might have caused the lock-up, as the lock-up might've been caused by other stuff.

The HD5770 is actually the card I was looking at buying originally.

I checked there in the system tab, and before every restart (at the blue screen) there was this error:
Quote:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000003b (0x00000000c0000005, 0xfffff88000db5141, 0xfffff8800a5e3950, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 011611-35147-01.
But when I go to check for the file, there's no Memory.dmp

I can't find anything around the time of the lock-up however.

There might be no dump because default windows settings deletes them iirc.

Either way, if the lock-up only happened once it might have just been an unlucky event. I do get them once in a long while too.

The 0x3b code can refer to failing, but not limited to graphical, drivers as well.

I ordered XFX HD5770; even if I still get the blue screens it's an upgrade from the 9600GT anyway.

I'd of been going with a higher end card, but I'm a bit low on money for the moment.
I'll probably Crossfire 2 of them when I have more money spare though.

crossfire isn't really worth it. Games aren't really supporting crossfire and it causes random crashes to the games. HD5770 is already strong enough the run all the games out there atm, no need to crossfire it at all.

Just re-install your OS. In past when I was complete lamer I had tons of BSoD because I always managed to screw up something.
Re-installation has never failed me and worked perfectly.
Unless you are one of those people who has over 9000TB HDD with movies, pr0n and whatnot.
