Default New PC Build

Here is what I'm planning.
So far I like a lot.

Suggestions on anything.

Oh yea. This is about as overboard as I want to go on a PC right now though.
A little price increase is whatever, but hundreds more. NAHBRO.

I'll be purchasing in about 2 weeks or so.

Ditch AMD, get Intel.

Ninjaedit: get 6gbs of ram, 16gbs is overkill and will hit your FPS.
Get a bigger HDD with the money saved on the unneeded ram.

I've never had a good experience with any Intel based systems. That's why I chose to get AMD again.

I enjoy overkill.
I'm getting 2 500 gigs, I have yet to fill my 1 500 gig as of now.

Edit: Decent Intel one?

Didn't notice the 2 next to your HDD selection. ><

As for the CFing the 6870s (coincidentally found after you pointed out the 2hdds), I've heard CF is pretty useless/not supported in alot of games. (mainly due to viiral nerdraging and darksin backing him up)
You might want to reconsider a single 6870 or 6970. A single 6970 is cheaper than 2 6870s either way.

General rule of thumb is that a single card is better anyways.

Other than this everything seems fine.

Why not give me some recommendations on video cards as well then?
I have no nvidia/ati preference.

Yay for me making a bad sentence again (I notice I do that alot lately :/).
edit: I'm confused whether it's a right or wrong grammatical sentence now. lol

Since nvidia/ati isn't a preference, go with the gtx580. It's faster than the hd6970.
(or pick the hd5970, but I doubt much people are willing to spend 700usd minimum on a gpu alone)

I would stay away from the 5970 it has had a lot of performance issues in games.

I would also go for an intel i5 2500k or i7 2600k CPU.

i would drop the 2 graphics cards and get a GTX 580, and a i5 2500k

the evga version comes with just cause 2 and mafia 2 right now as well.

edit just noticed you already changed out the AMD chip

edit: actually scratch that, triple channel is like a .1 increase on most charts, stick with what you have.

Cheap 2TB HDD for under 100$, cheaper than those two 500GBs you have set aside for over 100$. (If you are going for size)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148413

If you are going for a good RPM:SIZE ratio I say go for these, 1.5TB with 7200 RPM. Both are the same price, your call
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148337

If you plan on heavily overclocking and don't want to be bottlenecked by your read:write speeds on a standard hard drive, I suggest you invest in a SSD, and use it only for boot and high end games, and have a secondary drive for
data storage

Why did I not even think of an SSD.

About the vid card I did originally have the 580 picked out but I read a few things and stuff and it changed my mind. Looked around again and I'm more than fine with a 580 so I've added that in.

The CPU, I checked out some scores with the SandyBridge intel one that I have, and that's the so called chart topper of the month, so I'll be sticking with that.

Hard Drive - No doubt I'm going for an SSD and a terrabyte normal HD.

Ram - Anyone have an suggestions on a better thing of ram?

New build -
